So Oliver Perez finally has a nice start and that dumb ass Jerry Manuel takes him out and of course the Cardinals get 4 runs. Great choices out of the pen in Nieve and the "32 year old rookie" Valdez. To hell with the awful Gary Matthews Jr and Mike Jacobs. Please put Franceour after Bay and not after Jacobs. I'm sick of Manuel.

Meh, I haven't given up on the White Sox yet, but its time to hit higher than .222 as a team. They just put out an article that it isn't Greg Walker's fault (he's the hitting coach). Well then who the hells fault is it?

They have faced the Indians all star pitching staff though.

Ah well, they looked ok tonight and Danks shut up the hot TB Rays.

I know. I suppose we can't win every game, but I hope the bats come back alive.

I didn't realize this, but:
The Rays faced the White Sox for the first time since they were on the losing side of Mark Buehrle's perfect game on July 23.

The Twins have 1 error all season. :D Best in the league. Yanks are second with 4. Hopefully they can keep up the great defense and the bats stay hot.

and Halladay's ERA is 0.82 after 33 innings now. My god.

And not too far away is Matt Garza at 0.75 after 24. Halladay is a proven starter. I'm hoping that Matt can keep it up as well. We'll need him just to keep up with the Yankees. :)

Your Rays look awful good, but, come mid-season, if the Yankees or the Red Sox need to buy themselves another player or two to keep up, that's exactly what they'll do.

True that. We're playing our best in ages, but we're barely keeping up with the Yankees as it is.

My only wish is that the fans realize how good it is right now and start coming out to the games. This might be the last year the payroll gets this high. It'll help that John Fogerty is having a post-game concert on Saturday. :D

Happy that my Mets won a damn series for once but then again those Cubs are awful. They looked a bit lazy and Sweet Lou looked pissed the entire series. Now the Braves come to town and I get to see that Heyward kid start his met killing career. joy

John Maine starts tonight and if he stinks it up again I think Jerry Manuel should seriously consider taking him off the rotation.

The Doc is surgical. It's awesome to watch.

His stuff doesn't look particularly overpowering or "electiric", but, damn, that man knows how to pitch.

It's GOOD to have a stud in the barn . . . yes, yes, yes it is. :D

Chi Sox win two straight with walk offs. First time they've done that since '67. Fun stuff, good to see some bats working, although I'm getting tired of a few guys now.

wow..the Mets won two series in a row. Amazin '! The pitching especially the bullpen has been pretty darn good but they are really getting a ton of work. The starters have to go deeper in games and it sure would be nice if Wright, Francoeur and Bay get it going in the middle of the lineup. Ike Davis is playing well and hopefully will be a fixture at first base for years but its too early to think about that.

Looking around the league I see the Padres are having a nice start (like last season). The Orioles only have 2 wins, the Cubs Big Z is now a reliever and the Twins are looking really solid in that nice new ballpark.

So what's the deal with Cole Hamels?

Right now, location. His stuff is all there. He took the team to the promised land two years ago and he has the stuff to be a 1 or a 2, but pitching is a fiercely applied art and, despite that nice little run, he hasn't quite mastered it yet.

Thing is, we need him to "be that guy." He's the only starter on the staff with an up side. Halladay already resides atop the summit, and Banton, Happ, Kendrick and Moyer are ALL pretty much extracting every ounce out of there far weaker talents as it is.
