You'd have to have intention...but open carry is just about legal everywhere ...however not in Texas so I don't think the print (and also that's a real iffy type case, what does a gun look like and what if situations...I am sure a holster may count if a citizen identifies it as well) is the reason you lose the CCW, but rather the penalty for it may be one that precludes one from a CCW permit (Texas Code: Is not charged with the commission of a Class A or Class B misdemeanor or an offense under Tex. Penal Code § 42.01 (disorderly conduct), or of a felony under an information or indictment (see § 411.172(b));) Basically you get off on the concealed weapons error, but lose it do to the subsequent disorderly/disturbing the peace penalty's affect on having a CCW permit. Many laws are set up like this which suck.

Open carry is legal in many places, however, disturbing the peace is not....an easy way to make a open carry a crime is report disturbing the peace. Still you get due process for all of this and intent and what not gets brought up. It's easy to see why open carry can do this :)

Seriously, if you want a handgun that you plan to make big holes in paper with, get a Desert Eagle. If you want something to use in real life, get something in 45 ACP. Or 10mm. Or 40 S&W. Just because it was in Snatch and CS doesnt make it a must have for a gun collection.

prior to the DE in the 70's people used to speak the same way of the .44 mag long barrel's aka Dirty Harry....never was a more unsuitable sidearm created....I am sure if you need to be able to carry a rifle this is your gun of choice....close quarters chances are you'd have to step back 2 feet to get off a shot. ;)

Desert Eagle is just too big to be practical for much, I've held them a lot @ gun shows, just seemed like overkill...

Shot a 44 mag a lot growing up, (just realized it's another gun I've got on long term loan to an uncle) large cal handguns are definitely a hoot.

perhaps I will at some point....chances are that point is long away and distant.

You do realize I don't base my role here on yours.

Agreed. I've fired a DE .44 Magnum and wasn't all that impressed by it. $1000+ worth of handgun and it makes holes in paper a fraction of an inch larger than my .44 magnum which cost almost half as much. My .44 is more accurate and ammo is cheaper (than .50 AE anyway)!!!

I disagree with .44 Magnum being an 'unsuitable sidearm'. If you are hiking in a remote area and a handgun was your only option a .44 Mag would bring down a bear or cat-personally, I consider it a necessity when hiking. For home defense though a long barrel .44 Magnum would definitely not be my first choice although it can be made to fill this role admirably with hollowpoint and frangible ammo.

Shucks, I didn't think anyone noticed.

I've got a couple lame ass knives, mostly Buck folders, my bro in law keeps getting arrested for them (knives with too long a blade), so I haven't gotten into them too much.

Sorry, just showing off, dusted off the Nikon 5700, thinking of listing it on eBay & doing a round robin camera upgrade.

Should resize it out of respect for dwell's free hosting service. That thing loading 300+ times will do a number on bandwidth.

By the way, nice collection.:)

What a fvcked up world. Get arrested for a knife but can carry a concealed gun to get groceries.

We had many guns on the farm when I was a kid but I never understood how people in suburbs could use a gun. Do you guys actually hunt between your tightly packed homes?

Don't get me wrong the .44 mag I think is great for some people...just not the ultra long barrelled ones :) They look impressive though.

For longer range targets they'd be better.

You can "kill" paper with a BB gun. It's also pretty easy to sneak up on paper... especially since you're concealing the weapon.

Killing paper at 100-200 yards is a little harder with a BB gun.:p

Your Nikon is a 5MP right Lee?

Yep, mostly keeping it cuz of the 10X zoom, with a tripod, I can get some killer pics without walking up to the stage when the kiddos are in a school performance. All I could get for years was the oldest kid's head & the top of her bassoon from there anyway.

Never lived in the burbs, have you? Dragonflies the size of cars, ants as big as houses, and even a spider or 2 a year that attempts to eat your block.

Why yes I do.

Seriously though, no one in their right mind uses a rifle in the burbs, concealed carry pistol for protection is about it...

The long guns are for actually hunting/sniping.

All cleaned & put away:D

I have one with 8" barrel. It fits in a holster and is very comfortable to carry. Not much heavier than a 6" but much more accurate.
