Which would be different than the past eight years how exactly?

Because Bush was chastised for significant things like lying about Iraq, fucking up Katrina, etc.

Hey that needs to be scrutinized and explained to us average Americans. I support Obama and even some of the tihings in that bill have me wondering. This shit ab out his thermostat is bullshit. How do we know he doesn't practice what he preaches? He did say not to have it at 72 degrees at all times not at times.

so you don't want people to be exposed to the actual market price of the electricity they consume? so that they can make good choices with proper market-based information?

Do as I say, not as I do, eh?

Last I knew the whitehouse was part of America. Has he sold it?

Right, because what's good for the goose is not good for the gander.

God you people are dense. Obama thinks that people making over a certain amount of money should pay higher taxes. Does that mean he should start voluntarily gifting that extra percentage to the government today? Of course not, that would be stupid.

This is just a variation on the HURR HURR ALGORE thing that shows up in half the global warming threads. It stems from a willful inability to distinguish between public policy goals and private action.

God this is such a pathetic stance on the issue. Because people did something wrong in regards to bush - its a-ok for people to do it to Obama?

And the ironic thing is, this thread is about hypocrisy....

Bullshit. Bush was chastised on the morning of 9/11/2001 because he was reading a book to schoolchildren and didn't scream at the kids that the world was ending. I guess he was supposed to don his cape and make and fly to NY.

Bush was an idiot, but don't pretend that he didn't get jumped on for petty shit the entire time he was in office.

Uhmm, he didn't have to say anything to the kids. You would think he wouldn't want to hang out there for 10 minutes reading children's books when he was told "America is under attack" though. I mean I'm no expert, but that seems like a bad idea to me. I guess I should check in and see what FDR did after he heard about Pearl Harbor. There's a chance he stuck around and read the comics in the newspaper before doing anything.

Bush was rightfully attacked for fucking up prior to 9/11, and rightfully attacked for fucking up Katrina.

Anyone else find this hypocritical and elitist?

One can't rightly say one way or the other without first reading the bill you allude to.

Would you please you quote the portion of whatever bill you are claiming is evidence of hypocrisy and elitistism?

First link in google:

http://tammybruce.com/2008/12/meet_the_smart_meter.php

Want more, google it yourself.

I did google smart meter and smart meters and I didn't get tammybruce.com as my first link. Not even close. Maybe you googled "smart meters and right-wing nutjobs"?

I just googled "smart meters and right wing", and tammybruce was the second link.

So is jumping an idiot at every tern the same as or different from jumping a new intelligent agent of change for petty shit? Can we excuse one and not forgive the other? I mean, after all, the guy was reading a children's book up side down. I distinctly remember the pictures.

Hmmm where in my reply did I state that he wasn't chastised for insignificant things? What I did say was that he was chastised for significant fuck ups. Obama has yet to Fuck up.

Well, this is a non-issue. One room of the WH isn't going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things, but setting a responsible environmental policy for the nation would. This thread needs some perspective. Besides, if Reagan hadn't removed the solar collectors from the WH years ago because it 'sent the wrong message', the WH would still be setting a damn good example for environmentalism even with the slightly-noneedofacoat-higher thermostat. Get a grip.

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

"He's from Hawaii, O.K.?" said Mr. Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. "He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there."

Now wait, is this the same Obama who said back in May:

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say "OK"... That's not leadership. That's not going to happen."

Could this be the same Obama who is looking to sign a stimulus bill that would spend billions of dollars installing millions of "smart meters" that would enable your power company to prevent you from being as toasty warm as he is?

The Dems don't lead by example.... do as I say not as I do.

The secretary of the treasury doesn't pay taxes so this doesn't surprise me at all.

If one room of the white house doesn't matter, then one room in my house doesn't matter. And one room in 100 million houses don't matter.

Or is there a different standard for glorious leader?

I would love to have a smart meter on my apartment. It would actually make it seem worth it to run high electricity items in the evening, when I can see a real savings due to electricity being cheaper, instead of the current system of reading meters manually and charging an average kWhr price.

Actually, the book being upside down was just a photochop.

But yeah, the sitting on his ass while the nation was under attack was absurd, as would be scream at the kids that the world was ending. It is disturbing how so many people attempt to justify one irrational response by comparing it to another.
