A few things.

1. I'm a Captain of the TFB SAS, there is a reason we were the first to go in in both Iraq and Afghanistan (and that IS published knowledge), don't compare me to marines, it would be like comparing Seals to autism inflicted children.

We did however take in many Jews after the war, including most of the survivors of the St. Louis. I won't pretend that turning it away was good or right, but as I said, the USA is now home to the largest population of Jews outside of Israel and does not have the tolerance of Muslim violence against Jews (except perhaps in a few very liberal strongholds) that plagues much of Europe.

Everytime I go into a speedway gas station (which is every two days because I work for my money and drive a lot) I see illegal immigrants in front of me. Louisville/Lexington, KY has become a sanctuary city unfortunately.

They can't speak our language and they always pay in cash. ALWAYS! I have never seen a mexican use anything but cash to buy their two liters of sprite by the dozen. Ran into it again on my way home.

I doubt that we would have gone to war had we not been attacked. Roosevelt after all campaigned on keeping us out of the war, while helping Great Britain fight her own war, and many powerful people liked and admired the Nazis and socialist in general. Germany had been a good trading partner, ethnic Germans were a substantial minority in the USA, and after the deaths in WW1 Americans felt like Europe should fight its own wars, which would never stop, and that our oceans were sufficient barriers against foreign aggression. I think that's true about the Nazis, though perhaps not the Soviets. And I've only read about the St. Louis, although I admit it's never been a priority subject for me.

Sorry to hear about the lack of support at home. Regardless of how one feels about the war, one should always honor the troops who vow to go risk life and limb on whatever silly adventure politicians decide to send them on.

I think that's a waste of time and energy. A majority of both parties want them here, they just couldn't (under Bush) face the heat of the people. With Obama though it's different. Tell the corporate thugs in your party to stop hiring them illegally. As long as their is a demand for cheap illegal labor, they will continue to flock into the country.

You remove that demand and enact harsh punishments to employers that hire illegal immigrants, then the immigrants are faced with 2 choices:
1. Apply for citizenship.
2. Go back to Mexico.
