My standard party has been myself(RGR), Elanee, Kelgar, Shandra, and Sand. Kelgar is my heavy hitting fighter, I've got him using a badass great swords with superior weapon specialization in greatswords. Makes him lethal in combat. Shandra is a pure fighter as well, with focus on short swords and a good shield in the off hand. She doesn't deal the same level of damage as Kelgar, but her armor class is approaching 30, making her very hard to hit. My ranger is a little gimpy, unfortunately.

I have been playing RPG games for years ( around 1983) so I'm an old timer ;).
You will lose one of the above characters later(can't tell you why without spoiling it),normally I go with 2 tanks, sorcerer, cleric and rogue, this has been fine for most battles,BG2 has better balance with characters then NWN2.

Wizards/sorcerers are good for softening the enemy up ,then you can get your tanks to finish them off,in my case that is my hero ,he's fighter class and Kelgar, them two always stay in my party.

Btw later in the game having 5 or even 6 in your party is normal for some missions and you'll need them ;).

im at the end again (this is round 2). i have me (fighter with dual greatswords), khelgar, sand, ammon jerro, and zhjaeve. quite frankly, i'd rather have my golem instead of ammon jerro. zhjaeve is only useful because she can heal.

I've been wanting to play through 'An Ancient Heart' and 'Devotion to Darkness' NWN1 modules, there's just never enough time to do it. I should take another two weeks of vacation time after the holidays to play NWN modules.

Does anyone have more detailed information on character building? The main NWN2 website only has basic class info, etc... thanks!

Check the NWN2 forums, there's a wealth of information on character classes there.

Honestly though, just play what you prefer to play.

Do a search for NWN 2 mods and you will find a bunch of hero builder and character builder mods.
Most of them let you give your character a buttload of XP's and you can plan your advancement there. Its good to help teach you which Feats are best for you and also how and when to multi-class.

i haven't played SOU, but HOTU was pretty good. much more fast-paced than the NWN OC since HOTU is all about the epic levels. you fight a war in there too. i thought it was better than NWN2's because it was on a larger scale. of course, defending the keep in the courtyard brought my computer to its knees, so making it bigger wouldn't necessarily help:p

So is everyone just single playing this game?

I bought it to multiplay only since I have an MMOPRG that eats up the rest of my gaming time. So far I haven't play much since I've only been able to get the game to connect to friends a couple of times.

the multiplayer is very much dependent on user created mods. since people haven't had much time to familiarize themselves with the new toolset, multiplayer is relatively limited. i would say in 6mo - 1 year, there will be TONS of stuff.

Fighting 3 shadow reavers at once was fun, you'll need to use your brain on that one in battle, but not that hard once you know how to beat them.

A lot more twists towards the end, story is excellent and I have almost finished the game :).

I just wanted to vent here. I am extremely pissed at the piss poor developement of this game. I installed my game, ran the auto patcher and it fails! It gives me some bull ****** response that I *might* not have enough hard drive space, then it aborts. I was like, WTF? So I looked on BOTH drives, just in case it was trying to use the other for storage during the patch and BOTH drivers have 3+ gigs available on them. So, I tried to patch it again through the auto patch and it does the same thing... What a POS developer. These guys blow... LOL, an auto update patcher fails? Right out the box! Lovely... Piece of ****** (goes to ****** on this POS product).

Woot! I have been selected to participate in the chat with the Obsidian Development team on Xfire tomorrow!

Anybody got any appropriate questions that they would like me to ask?

How long before we see an expansion pack and are they making one.

Alright, I'll be sure to remember that one, definitely.

The way they do their patches, they copy the entire installation so they can revert to a working version if the patch messes up midway. Sounds good in principle, but the downside is you need 6-7 free gigs (after installation) to even start an update. I had to use CCleaner, delete some saves (NWN2 and oblivion saves) and juggle some stuff around last time I patched.

Btw I did get one weird bug towards the end ,ended up with different party members at the end battle if you save then reload you'll find that zhjaeve had gone(if she was in your party already) and was replaced by Elanee, was a little bit of a problem for me since zhjaeve had a few heal potions on her that I purchased earlier on in the game,Elanee had none on her.

Lemme guess...

You're question to the developers is:

"Why are your games so buggy?" :p

Kromis:Not really,I knew the game was buggy before I brought it,besides nowadays quite normal for games to be buggy, games get more complex, they have their deadlines to release games and patch after release.

I wish I knew if they are doing KOTOR3 or heard anything about it ;).

Last official word from Lucas Arts is they arent likely to do any more RPG's besides online types, (those have the best profit margin).

But that was the last word to the public, who knows what goodies they may be keeping secret.

Of course, Obsidian cant do any Star Wars games without license from Lucas Arts so their hands are tied right now.

Last I heard, there were some rumors they were in negotiations with Bioware, but Bioware has the right idea with developing their own properties. Dragon Age and Mass Effect are both Bioware owned worlds. They don't answer to Lucas Arts, Wizards of the Coast, or anyone with those worlds.
