Dethfrumbelo: thx I'll look into that, this game feels bit unbalanced to me,some parts are way too easy while other parts are very tough,or is it my characters?Using fighter(main character),fighter dwarf, thief, and last a paladin which I swap with a druid depending on where I'm in the game, I guess it could be 1.03 patch.

Played though the game nearly the same as you and again swapping one of the fighters with an wizard (preferably evoker wizard) and found it was much much easier. Good rule of thumb is not to have more than 1 of the same type of toon on your group. It seems the a good combo is a roguish class for traps/locks, a tankish class for taking the pain, a direct damage or debuff caster to bring dps and a healer/buffer type to keep everyone alive.

Another hotfix,

Hey Everyone,

We have released a hotfix for version 1.03. Running the Autoupdater will update you to the a new version - while the main version number shown in the launcher will still be 1.03, the full hotfixed version will read as 1.03.840 when you run the auto-updater. The non-hotfixed version will read 1.03.835.

This hotfix is being released to fix the toolset crashing on launch for users whose Windows language settings were not English (United States).

The 1.03 patches for other languages are still undergoing finalization and will incorporate this hotfix when they are released.

Link.

I used auto updater.

I have been trying to Multiplay NWN2 for weeks now. Originally I couldn't connect with a friend and his boy across town. They are on their own router connected to the net.

Someone here suggests www.himachi.com. I DL that and installed it, so do they and guess what? We connect and play after that. We did this one two separate occasions. A week later, with no apparent changes to anyone, no updates, I can no longer connect. Haven't since then. Himachi or no.

I have read today in the NWN2 forums that since the last patch 1.03, no one is connecting. Wow, what a buggy game. I feel like I put $50 down the toilet so far. I hope they fix the game soon so we can M play it as we should be able to. I mean, how many people in this day are like me and my buddy? With routers and two computers at home connecting to someone else liket that? VERY common.

I told myself I was only going to play for a little bit, 30 minutes tops. Ended up playing for several hours straight. NWN2 is easily the best SP RPG I've played since PST and BG2.

Wish I had more time on my hands to play the game though. I hope they add more romance dialogue between male PCs and Neeshka, Shandra, and Elanee in the 1.04 patch though. :)

Dang, this really is a pretty long campaign. Just cleared out Crossroad Keep and got the Githzerai cleric in my party. Bit of an annoyance that I had to break up my whupass party for her though. Elanee, Sand, Kelgar, Shandra, and I(Ranger) were really trashing anyone who got in our way.

The silver lining is that the engine itself supports more than 4 characters, a feature that will undoubtedly find its way into many after market mods.

The down side of my party was that when Sand and Elanee started throwing around their magic, the frame rate really chugged. The 1.03 patch did make it run my faster . . . so I upped my settings, naturally. :)

I am at that point right now (or so the strategy guide tells me). But my game keeps crashing after I talk to Vale. I get through the first cutscene and then the program crashes to desktop every single time.
Have the latest version of the game, all the latest drivers for my hardware and Windows Updates.
Tried setting everything down to minimum and audio turned off.
No luck.

Anybody else have similar issues?

I didn't, in fact, after logging several hours this weekend, I only experienced a single crash.

Were others at the NWN2 forums seeing the same bug?

-SPOILERS!-

I just did a deep check on the NWN2 forums.
People have had many issues in the same area as I did but for different reasons and with different results.
It usually happens to them because either Vale or Sevann dies in the big battle. In my case both are alive and I can engage the conversation, but it crashes to desktop after the first cutscene (where the 4 shadows rise from corpses).
It also doesnt help my search results that many people are experiencing problems in Act 3 at Crossroads Keep.

Stable for me so far,I've done some of the keep, don't want to spoil it ,but I have got the item you need, boy the game gets a lot harder after your first visit to the keep which was a cakewalk,I might need to rearrange my party again, got whooped big time by the baddies later in the game.

Balancing is messed up in this game, some parts way too easy and some parts way too hard( hard parts gets you so frustrated),that and AI movement are my main problems.

try loading a save before you hit this area. it may just be a bug incurred during play and related to that specific save state, vs one that's at an earlier point in time.

one time i couldnt get the first ritual of purification, so i had to reload a previous save (and undo all my work) to get the first one.

Just checking in with my results so far on the editor:

While they say it is "much improved" i think that would be a stretch, the engine is a step back in a couple areas and a step forward for scripting and convorsation editing.

Once you get used to it you can work about as fast as the old editor, but in this one you have to do everything in order. Whereas in the aurora editor, you could be editing a charecter and in his inventory just right click to create a new item on the fly.

I havent tried importing anything yet, as my 1st campaign is just a dungeon crawl and im trying to keep it as simple as possible, but still using most of the effects and default scripting that is built into the game.

Overall id say its about the same quality as the aurora editor, which is good.

I got pass the part where my party was being wiped out,I just changed my team lineup and buffed them up more, it can make the difference between life or death in this game.
No crashes yet so stability is excellent, not encountered any bugs yet so that's good :).

For people finding some battles difficult, I've found that changing tactics/strategies can make those battles only moderate. Also, swapping out some party members can be very effective. I prefer fights in my parties, but I recognize the strengths of rogues, mages, and clerics as well.

My standard party has been myself(RGR), Elanee, Kelgar, Shandra, and Sand. Kelgar is my heavy hitting fighter, I've got him using a badass great swords with superior weapon specialization in greatswords. Makes him lethal in combat. Shandra is a pure fighter as well, with focus on short swords and a good shield in the off hand. She doesn't deal the same level of damage as Kelgar, but her armor class is approaching 30, making her very hard to hit. My ranger is a little gimpy, unfortunately. I took the archer package for him without realizing that it removed the two weapon fighting feats for rangers, making my dual wielding ranger rather weak. I did find a dagger that granted those feats, but I cannot stop using the little dagger in the off hand now. :(

Elanee and Sand are my cannons, obviously, Sand more so. I've only done a little customization with Sand so far, since he's a relatively new character. Elanee also packs the bulk of my healing spells.

During certain missions, I will take Neeshka with me, but at my level, traps are a minor annoyance. I haven't encountered any chests or such that I would need to lock pick since I stopped using Neeshka as a staple character, though I have seen a number of doors that I've had to have Kelgar smash open.

I have been playing RPG games for years ( around 1983) so I'm an old timer ;).
You will lose one of the above characters later(can't tell you why without spoiling it),normally I go with 2 tanks, sorcerer, cleric and rogue, this has been fine for most battles,BG2 has better balance with characters then NWN2.

Wizards/sorcerers are good for softening the enemy up ,then you can get your tanks to finish them off,in my case that is my hero ,he's fighter class and Kelgar, them two always stay in my party.

Btw later in the game having 5 or even 6 in your party is normal for some missions and you'll need them ;).

If you feel like cheating at the beginning of the game you can enter a console command and allow yourself six allies plus Shandra plus each spell caster can have one summoned creature PLUS I think you can also have a familiar.

Brings me back to the good old days of BG1 and 2.
Now if we could just control them like Baldurs Gate we would be alright.

HOT DAWG, THATS IT!

I used the console commands to remove everybody from my party (except Shandra) and it let me continue with all the cinematics.
Perhaps maybe I should not have all those summoned monsters at the end of the battle. Or maybe its a certain PC that causes the issue.

In any case, a good general rule for getting through cut-scenes without error is to have your main character selected and a minimum of people in your group.
