Nvidia announcement: "Our CEO is a whiney little b!tch, and our products are both inferior and delayed."

.. was what I thought I'd see when I saw the thread title.

EDIT: Then I realized that wouldn't be a major announcement; wouldn't be news.

And at 12:03 PST, "ARE YOU READY?" is still the tweet up there. Niiice. NV is even late with senseless hype.

Um, PAX 2010 is on the 26th of March.
That's still over a month away. Until they unveil the cards.

So, still a long wait even now.
Looks like that Q2 availability wasn't just for mass availability, but ANY availability.

Aand the big announcement is: there will be an announcement at PAX east. Wow! Yeah. Are we sure it's safe to pre-announce an announcement without a warmup announcement?

You gotta admit. NV's PR team is doing a fantastic job of keeping the buzz alive considering they've had nothing but their dicks in their hands for two quarters. I mean, we're talking bit boyz level vapor is all they had to work with since September, yet they're still keeping a chunk of mindshare.

So they tell everyone that they are making an announcement on Monday morning. They they announce that they will be making their announcement in March 26?

Seriously they were probably going to announce them today and then realized that they could not make their deadline and pushed it back a month.

I thought maybe they'd release pricing (given the pre-order nonsense we're seeing)? Some cherry picked benchmarks? Some tease shots of the card (titillating but not quite revealing angles)?

ANYTHING more than "ARE YOU READY? ...TO WAIT SOME MORE!!"

And for all the crap Charlie took for his articles...I bet he's having a good laugh with his coffee this morning.

Not really.
Those who are NV fanboys have had their pants unzipped since the start and will keep them that way.
Those who are ATI fanboys are still laughing all the way to the e-store where they buy their new ATI card.
Those neutrals are mostly finding it amusing and frustrating that NV still haven't managed anything, and there is no high end competition so prices have stagnated or increased and there is no competition.

And most people don't even know what the fuss is about because they don't know about/care about high end GPUs.
They just want something they can buy to play games, and stuff above $200 is of no consequence to them at all. (NV is competitive below $150, and these people don't know what a Direct X is).
NV can keep mindshare without too much problem when they have products which are still appealing, and they do for the majority of the market by volume.

It may not even be that. Looking at the page, it sounds like it might be a rehash of what they did at CES.

I'm a traditional nvidia guy. I like nvidia. I prefer nvidia. They're driving me towards becoming an ATI fanboy with their incessant crap

Yeah, this is what I get for staying up late to watch for the announcement (of an announcement, it turns out). Yeah, this is so worth being late and suffer from lack of sleep tomorrow morning, thanks PR dudes.

I'll go see if Tycho and Gabe are pissed with them as well, I'd like to see how they'd ridicule Fermi in a PA issue.

"ARE YOU READY? ...TO WAIT SOME MORE!!"
Gold.

EDIT:

Scanned the comments section of their Facebook post. Lots of gold in it, like this one:
Daniel Martinez:I just got cancer cause of the dumb shit NVIDIA just pulled off. Wait is almost over my ass. This card better be the bee's knee's and not cost $500 at launch.
:awe:

I'll take the comments that made me laugh as the silver lining in this latest PR 'stroke of genius'.
