welp i got notification my card was on stock @ EVGA.
So i pulled the trigger on it. Its the FTW3 version, which has all the bells and whistles a Nvidia card can have.
Also i am sort of spoiled silly on eVGA support, as it has always done good to me (US).

Very expensive card seeing how i had to pay for shipping even on top.
But i will just suck it up like a man, try not to get buyers remorse on that card, and will probably hold onto it.

I got UPS confirmation, and eVGA being litterally 30 min drive from my house, is a 1 day delivery.
So i should get my card today.

I am however sort of getting buyers remorse already with the news of a 3080ti, as i feel that would of been perfectly acceptable at a 500 dollar less price tag.

Oh wellz, not going to cry over spilled milk, and i would of probably had buyers remorse then too thinking i could of spent 500 more and got the top flag card.

I am waiting for waterblocks for the card tho, so far i can only think of 1 company which has blocks for this card, and that is optimius, but the block and backplate costs 378 dollars.... UGH...
I would rather get a stock EVGA solution or a eK solution, but if i see no blocks soon i will probably end up bitting that price tag as well.
Overall, this Card is probably costing me more then my PC core components. lol.... This is probably insane, i don't think i have ever dropped so much on a single card. Ive gotten close with waterblocks on SLI builds tho, but never on a single card.

had a chance to try it yet?

No not yet.... its a major job changing video cards in my system because im liquid cooled.
So im really holding off until i can get a block on it, then having to take down my system twice after block has arrived.
Also im not really in a rush as my 2080ti is already enough for everything i play at.

I'll most likely get to it once Cyberpunk 2077 launch date arrives, as i have a feeling i will need that card for that.

yeah i bet, i've always stayed away from liquid cooled because of the work involved

i finally got lucky hitting F5 yesterday and scored a 3090... probably dumb of me to buy it but i don't care! can't wait to give it a try.

Really think at this point if you manage to get a 30 series your really fortunate.
I do not expect it to get any better with availability especially with the holiday season coming around.

As for watercooling, yes its a lot of work.
But its really enjoyable for me.
Thinking of ways to route, using hard piping here, and there.
Also keeping your gpu @ 30'sC and load no more then 15-20 Delta.... i really can not go back to air cooling.
Something about watching my card load under water @ idle temps on air makes me flinch.

On a good note i see that day coming soon as EVGA has finally released a hydrocool version:

I ended up getting the same card from a local store here. They actually had a bunch of 3090s in stock, as well as 3070s. No 3080s though, and no RX 6000 series yet.

Some shops have 3090's & 3070's in the UK still (as of 13:40 GMT) but 3080's sell out in minutes, my local Retail/etail store has 3090's left but sold all their 3080 & 3070 stock the got on Friday by this morning.

Im surprised that there are 3070's still in stock because that's a pretty solid card. I wonder if people just don't know that they're in stock because the perception that no one has any. It's probably not where I'm at but if it were close I'd drive to pick one up.

I wonder if the 3080 Ti rumors are going to keep people from buying the 3090 as well. I know there are a few people who would want the top card regardless, but a potential $500 difference is going to be hard to swallow for most.

i definitely should've waited for the 6900xt or the 3080ti but i got tired of it

couldn't get a 3080 anywhere, 3090 was the first thing i was able to snag

ah well, i keep GPUs for 4-5 years so its maybe 100$ extra a year

and then i'll just hand it down to one of the kiddos

It's still the best GPU you can get this generation and nothing is changing that. The 3080 Ti rumors are exactly that, so there's no telling how accurate any of it actually is and with the general supply shortages there's no telling when they'll be available anyways.

Which card did you end up getting? I'm assuming it's an AIB card.

zotac 3090 trinity, which i discovered after buying is not close to the best choice. though i haven't received it yet so this is all just from reading the internet.

it was the only kind that had been showing up lately on the discord channel i was watching... and i had tried unsuccessfully for a month to get a 3080 of any kind... so when i saw that amazon was letting me check out with that thing, i went for it.

hopefully zotac gets a bios update out that removes the 350w power limit. i've seen that other people are flashing with a gigabyte bios and that's working fine, so i may do that if zotac doesn't release one soon.

then again, it's gonna be so much faster than my 1070 out of the gate that i'll probably be fine waiting for a while for zotac to release their own update before i start tweaking settings.

I'm hoping that Optimus ships their water blocks soon. I picked up one for my 3090 and it's suppose to be out this month. I know that's not likely, but it's the best hope for getting one for the FTW3 version.

I also got the step up for a 3080 FTW3 Ultra but it doesn't fit my HTPC case. So all the luck in the world getting both a 3090 and 3080, but only able to use one.

Nvidia has went full retard AMD in this generation in pushing cards where they should not be. Real shame.

At first i thought that my MSI 3090 Suprim is doing something uniquely stupid out of box, but it seems reference and custom cards are the same.

Taking an example from above posters -> out of box Port Royal score is 13.4K, voltage is ~1V, power -> 425W.
To achieve ~same score ~0.875V are required and 1900 clock, power -> 350W

The real fun is the score of 12.9k at ~0.806V, rock solid 1815 clocks, 295W power

I think even during AMD 290X full retard benchmarketing mode days last 5% of performance were not achieved with 50% more power usage. ( GDDR6X seems to be chewing ~100W, so 200W -> 300+W is at least 50% ).

Other than that card is outright awesome, ridiculously silent for workstation.

Heres an interesting thing some others might like to try. I have a zotac 3090 trinity and am using the Firestorm app. Will be interesting to see how other 3090s fare.

So I got the free COD BlackOpsPsychMKUltraColdWar game from nvidia and loaded it up and found a nice scene that had relatively low fps on ultaMaxUberNighmare settings at 2K...by which i mean 75FPS

Then I went into firestorm and changed the Max Power settings all the way from 30% to 100% in 10% intervals and noted clocks, temps and FPS

So the results are, and note this was not scientifically done, but the actual 'viewpoint' rendered did not change throughout - timed for 1 minute on each power setting, average FPS.

30%-210-60C-19FPS
40%-500-61C-33FPS
50%-1500-65C-65FPS
60%-1650-70C-72FPS
70%-1850-72C-75FPS
80%-1900-74C-75FPS
85%-1935-74C-75FPS (added after to find sweet-spot)
90%-1935-74C-75FPS
100%-1920-77-75FPS

My first thoughts were that I had frame limiter or vsync on, but after the test I moved the viewpoint, and indeed the FPS shot up to over 120....so this is the result. Best results at 70-80% power limit I believe. Same for everyone?

(Other specs, 32GB, 3950x stock)

I got a 3090, the PNY Uprising model. I was going to wait for a 3080ti but couldn't resist when I had a chance to get the last one at the local Microcenter. :D I have more free time for games right now and expect the 3080ti to be unavailable/marked up for a while anyway. It's one of the cheaper models but looks clean/non-tacky with subtle RGB accents, and the cooler seems quieter than my old 1080ti FTW3 cooler. It easily handles several games I tried on a 4K TV and a Reverb G2 VR headset, and the HDMI 2.1 enables several features of the TV that the 1080ti dd not support. These cards don't gain much from overclocking but I might try undervolting it at some point.

I played around a bit with the voltage settings. It normally runs around 1700mhz at 70-73C due to the hitting the power limit, which tops out at 102% on this model without changing the BIOS, but setting it to 1900mhz at 0.881V seems to work nicely. I can get either 1900mhz at the same power and temperature, or setting the power limit to 90% gets 1800mhz with a 6-7C temperature drop and takes 50W off at the wall outlet. I think it can be pushed further but will leave it there long term.

I still haven't figured out how to adjust the RGB. I like to have everything on one fixed color, but PNY's own tool has no option to change the RGB. It's amazing how every company's RGB software is so atrocious. At least the stock setting is fine and doesn't look obnoxious.

Yeah these cards beg for undervolts. What continues to amaze me is how incredibly silent my card (MSI 3090 Suprim) is. Incredible piece of engineering. I've read online that it supposedly has some sort of switch between Silent and Gaming BIOS, but given my experience with ridiculous voltages and wattages i don't care about what Gaming brings to the table.
And LEDs are cancer, i have mine in Meshify S2 case, had to move my top fans to block the light, of all places it has some minor logo on backplate, kinda wish that instead of wasting a good switch on BIOS switching, they had turn off ALL LEDs switch instead.
