In order to review Iron Man 3, I'll have to rate previous movies to show where I'm coming from.

Iron Man 1: [9/10] It was the 'dark' (quite accurately) time for super hero movies. They were all cliche as hell, and I was getting tired of the brooding, miserable emos who were crying about their gift with a heavy burden (Batman, Spiderman, etc). Thankfully RDJ came along as Iron Man and blew everyone away with the snarky egotistical attitude. In the big screen world, this was new and refreshing. The movie was wholesome and handled the origin story very well. I was laughing, cheering, and smiling throughout. The movie was funny, witty, and smart. It was without a doubt the best action movie of that year.

Iron Man 2: [7/10] Bloated and contrived. The movie blatantly felt like a lazy money grab. Also I missed the chemistry between RDJ & Terrance Howard. Don Cheadle is a great actor in his own right, but the change felt abrupt and he never settled properly with me as Rhodey in Iron Man. I've watched Iron Man 1 numerous times. I don't even think I saw 2 again outside of the theater.

The Avengers: [6.5/10] This was the biggest cliched pile of crap I've seen on recent memory. Given the wide roster, it couldn't escape from being a 90-minute fan service with each heroes having spotlight moments, then all coming together to defeat the big bad guy. It was predictable, predictable, and predictable. Now I don't mind watching mindless action flicks, but at the end of the day, it just has to entertain me. This movie failed at it.

Iron Man 3: The writers tried to get out of the comic book formula a little. And I thoroughly appreciated them all. It made for a refreshing change since IM2 & Avengers. I haven't felt that word- refreshing since watching Iron Man 1. I'll tell you why:

-Today's audience have a better modern imagination than that of the 90's and 00's. One man in a suit fighting one big villain is getting boring. And Iron Man 3 took a better approach with Mandarin. It was pretty smart for a comic book movie.

-Same goes for Iron Man himself. I really liked how Tony was proving himself without a suit or a partial suit half the time. It wasn't the same crap of punching villains in the suit as seen in IM1, 2, or Avengers. It only got better with different suits and when Pepper had her little moment.

It's a solid movie. I loved the non-cliche dialogue between Tony and the kid. It was full of wit. I can see the purist comic book nerds hating on the movie because of the liberties the movie took. How sad for them.

8.5/10.

A Good Day To Die Hard: 0/10

This is the most boring action movie I've ever seen. I can't finish it. I fell asleep once already and on try two all I can think about is: "Why did they make this terrible movie? Is Bruce Willis this desperate for money?"

Star Trek - Captain Eyebrows and the Lens Flare Brigade: 6.5/10

Somewhat of a disappointment to me but ok... I guess. I wanted to like it more, it just seemed to be quick and dirty, and just a piece of fluff. With lots of lens flare. It's no Wrath of anyway.

Iron Man 3: 6/10

I didn't think too much of this one either. What's with the paper mache armor?
It was better than the last one but is that saying a whole lot? The first movie, to me, is still the best.

Oblivion: 5.5/10

It looked great!

Evil Dead: 6.5/10

Can't go wrong with a chainsaw to the face!

The Perfect Weapon (1991): 6/10

Back in the action movie heyday, I remember this was one of my favorites! And, look, there it is on YouTube! And it kind of sucked but it was good but it sucked.

Nude Nuns with Big Guns: 2/10

Wow, now that's how to make a shitty movie. I gave it a two for the boobage. Boobies make everything better!!

Bully - 7.5/10 - Depressing, but I'm glad I watched it. Its terrible how powerless these parents are if the school administrations and police don't feel the need to take action.

Jack Reacher - 5/10

I usually like Tom Cruise, but then comes a movie like Mission Impossible 2 or Jack Reacher. Just an ad for Tom Cruise (tm), draped in parts stolen from other movies (ala Skyfail).

I had a friend that saw this movie and he really did not like it. For the most part we agree on movies we like and don't like. After watching it for the first time today I liked it. It was not scary like the first Alien movie or great action flick like the Aliens, but it was not bad. Same universe different agenda.

Timeline (2003) - 6.5/10

Time travel son goes back in time (duh) to save father. Yea, the 'old time' village was dirty and everyone was wearing grey and blue and carrying pitchforks or babies. But, for every miss, there is a good cast here or some big names, and some interesting time period facts.

Ugh. Don't remind me. All the changes from Michael Crichton's book were to disassociate their hero from the nerds and give him a compellingly cool reason to go with the nerds (a girl ). I was laughing out loud in the theater when he pulled up to the archeological dig on his motorcycle. I got a strong Fast and Furious style over substance vibe there. All the cool science parts were reduced to groups yelling "Woah!" with some blue lights and crap.

The book was amazing. I liked it better than Crichton's Jurassic Park.

The problem with that movie is: The more you think abut it, the less you like it. Eventually you start to hate it when you realize the screenwriters spent less thought on it than any individual viewer did. Damon Lindelof just didn't give a shit.

Star Trek (2013) - 7.5/10 - I don't know. Maybe it is just me but I thought it was kinda meh. Good, but very underwhelming. It started off kinda slow and if you don't know anything about the previous movies, you might miss out on something (
the villian in this one is Kahn
). Anyway, I thought the one released a few years ago was much more entertaining.

Pretty well sums up my feelings after watching this yesterday.

Premium Rush. 4/10

Bad guy was ridiculously cheesy. Motivation for the good guy was pure schmaltz. Some decent bicycle action.

Oblivion: 3/10. At 10:30pm, I couldn't stop yawning - I almost fell asleep during the movie. Ditto my wife who said, "that was the stupidest thing I ever watched." The flying craft that Cruise piloted... yep, let's make it a short scene in the movie demonstrating how everything spins around, rather than simply let us see it in operation = "hey, look at the little thing we built for this movie... we spent so much to build this model that we're going to show you even more of it."

Star Trek (whatever the subtitle was): 8/10 Enjoyable, actually woke me back up after seeing Oblivion; it was the 2nd feature of the night. So, at 1:00am, I was still wide awake. The story made sense. I don't know if there was another in the Star Trek series that explained the beginning - I haven't seen them all. I thought it was well done, the acting was decent.

Oz (whatever the rest of the title is) - 7.5/10 Enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice plot explaining the beginning, how the Wizard got to be who he is in the original. Only thing: come on - cast the hot actress as the good witch.

Iron Man 3: 7.5/10 Enjoyable.

texas chainsaw - 6/10 - this movie is not bad, but it isn't good either. but it doesn't really feel like a texas chainsaw massacre movie either. i also was not aware of the story for this one at all, which i personally thought was kind of neat. although it did get kinda bleh/cheesy towards the end of it. got some hot chicks in it too. if you like horror movies and the texas chainsaw stuff, it's definitely worth a watch.

Trying not to spoil anything for the on-lookers, but: Yes. There is an episode in the first season of the original series and a lot of references to the second movie. I wish they wrote in some way that ended up eliminating the people with the
life-resurrecting blood
so that it wouldn't be used for any other plot devices in the future like Scotty's ridiculous trans-warp beaming formula has already done (handily breaks the warp 10 speed barrier!).

Sinister - 7/10 - First horror flick I've seen in a good while. I thought it was ok, the first half of the movie was pretty creepy! After that, it got a little predictable and the scare factor went down to 0 for me. It's Amytyville horror meets Alan Wake....

Texas Chainsaw 2/10
This one is suppose to be a sequel to the original which already had a sequel so WTF. I've seen all of these movies ALL OF THEM. Most of them are bad movies but they are at least fun bad movies. This one is just bad. The actions of the police in this movie make no sense at all. The actions of the lead actress makes the cops look like geniuses. I expect everybody in these movies to be dumb but come on.

i never saw the old sequel, but is the story the same? i didn't realize the new one was along the same story line, even if it took place much much later.

The previews made it look like it'd be about like that, honestly. The flashlights in it were cool, though, right?

The Naked City - 7/10

It has aged well. Unlike some movies that have a timeless quality about them, this one's gripping in part because of its time capsule qualities, not being confined mostly to soundstages. If you like noir and/or cop dramas...

the last stand - 4/5 - just a really fun movie. my wife and i were both laughing a lot during this movie. sure it was fake as hell especially towards the end, but it was just a fun movie with a fun story. very entertaining and i thought the cast was great in it. knoxville did awesome in his role too. i felt like he was just playing johnny knoxville lol. and arnold was awesome too. i wish he had more 1 liners though.

gangster squad - 4/5 - pretty cliched story, but it is based on a true story apparently. took a while to get going but once it does it kept it's pace. i gotta say sean penn was awesome in this movie. thought he played a great hardass. and as usual i didn't like ryan gossling i think he is a terrible actor and he sounds like such a pussy every time he talks. almost gave it a 3/5 because of him.

FDR: American Badass (4.5/10) on netflix streaming was . . . not great, but better than a Scary Movie / Epic movie "comedy."

Plot: A Nazi werewolf bites governor Roosevelt on the leg, giving him "the polio", but he keeps fighting them with silver-bullet machine gun fury! Kevin Sorbo has a funny cameo as Abraham Lincoln. Some boobies, but sadly not Robin Sydney's.
