Prophets of Science - 9/10 ..... 5/10 .... They do the best sci-fi authors in the first few episodes. Then it gets kinda repetitive and boring as the episodes go on. They basically talk about the things that sci-fi authors wrote about that eventually came true. Like predictions of the internet in the 1800s type stuff.

Pretty good though. Only 8 episodes on Netlfix.

I've dug through the last 4 or 5 pages and haven't seen a review so...

Has anyone seen Mud? Trying to find something to watch tomorrow night. Hard to pass up the B1G1 Fandango Fridays in the summer months.

IMO he's a hit or miss. Sometimes he has atrociously unorganized and long movies like Letters from Iwo Jima & Flags of Our Fathers.

Then you got some real polished gems like Gran Turino, Million Dollar Baby, etc..

Flags and Iwo Jima are some of his greatest works if not the best.
Gran Torino and Million Dollar Baby were good. Not great.

Boardwalk Empire 9/10 so far. Almost through the first season. Love it. Maybe a slight step below Mad Men and Breaking Bad which I'd call 10/10.

this show is MUCH better to watch back to back instead of watching it weekly as it airs. you're doing it right.

Apparently this is the third movie based loosely on the same book. The 2nd movie being the one everybody will know Payback with Mel Gibson. The very basic plot is the same but everything else is pretty different and not as good. Jason Statham doing pretty much exactly the same thing he does in every movie. Still it is a fun movie to kill some time with.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 9/10 - I really enjoyed this. The best CGI acting I've ever seen, strong plot/screenplay given the subject matter. Does a really good job of keeping protagonist/antagonist a bit unclear at times.

Killing Them Softly 8/10 - I didn't think the overt political metaphor was necessary, and didn't really fit in with the story itself. But a good, simple gangster film that highlights Brad Pitt's talents.

Taken 2 7/10 - ok this doesn't really deserve a 7, but a good enough popcorn flick to pass the time. I've never gone out of my way to see it but it's popped up on airplanes recently. Good casting/acting for a cookie cutter action movie

Never seen the entire movie. I saw the ending and thought it was good... But at the time, I confused Adrien Brody with Roman Polanski, so was a bit biased.

Zombie Apocalypse - 6/10 - Watchable. Much better than the other made for TV movie of recent years. The one with Danny Trejo. Not much happens, just your typical zombie movie/plot. Definite made for TV feel.

Jack Reacher 3/10 WTFBBQ

I think it deserves better than that. The story wasn't very good...outright silly in some places. The acting was really bad in some places.

...but it was never boring. I thought the pacing was excellent. It does deserve a little better than "3/10"

The TV was left on last night and Grandma's Boy came on. That always reminds me of just how terrible a movie can be.

Id have to agree on the 3/10 myself. I watched it and was bored, never really interested, and half way through got on the computer instead of really watching it. Just wasnt a movie i got into or even really cared for.

Just watched this for the first time last week and thought it was fantastic. I'd put off watching it for so long, but I'm glad I finally got around to it. Would probably give it the same rating.

Who is giving Adrien Brody crap? :hmm:

dark skies - 2/5 - started out pretty freaky and had a good atmosphere, but took a big turn for the worse towards the end, then totally fell flat at the end. pretty bad movie.

Last Days Here - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723126/
8.5/10

Caught this documentary on Netflix streaming last night. My girlfriend and I both loved it. It follows Bobby Liebling, singer of 70's doom metal band Pentagram, while he is at his absolute lowest point in drug addiction.

It is a very, very candid portrayal of drug addiction, failure and redemption. Without spoiling too much, I'll say that it does end on an amazing high note.

An absolute must-watch for fans of any metal genre.

Because he's done nothing since then. The curse of the Oscar.

End of Watch 8/10: Much better than the corny ass trailer I was forced to see few times when I went to movies last year. The trailer made it seem like two lowly street cops deliberately try to tackle on the whole drug cartel themselves. That makes no sense whatsoever and their asses would get fired in such a 'realistic' movie. Fortunately that's now what happened. It stayed 'real' for a tried-and-true buddy-cop movie (the ending). I commend them on that. A solid watch, but eventually forgettable.

Good movie! All the political stuff is necessary for the last line of the movie, which is the best line. :D

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn - 5/10

Even though I must give it a poor rating, it was great in many ways. Fundamentally, there are too many cringe moments due to poor writing, but the productions values seemed pretty high. The special effects were great when they were good and only slightly off when they weren't.

Truthfully speaking, if they procured better talent for the writing and acting this could have truly been a quality film. I wish I would have actually watched this before I played through the single player campaign....

It's called false advertising and this movie could have been way greater if they went the way they pretended to be in the trailer. The could have even been fired, killed, etc. in the end and that would have made far more viewers entertained, which is the point.... right?
I don't find entertainment in watching the bromance of 2 LAPD officers unfold and then end tragically. :'(
You were right that this film is quite forgettable though. :D
