NordicHardware Rumor: AMD HD 7000 delayed to 2012

"The launch has been moved from 2011 to 2012 due to high demand for the HD 6000 series, and capacity problems. AMD has been having capacity problems over the last months for HD 6000, which has led to orders from OEM manufacturers and distribution channels have been stacking up. It also says that the HD 6000 series is hardly a year old and there is no rush to introduce the HD 7000 at the present day."

Oh crap. Looks like all of us will be playing BF3 on old hardware...

And while I want to call this bull, they are selling the HD6970 at original retail prices 9 months after introduction. Another profit win for AMD.

2gb ones spinejam?

what type/brand etc?

And i feel sorry for the people who sold their hardware waiting for AMD to introduce the 7xxx series soon, but well.. you were warned.

Hopefully everything will be nicely timed with IvyBridge so that there will be a full gamut of fully known choices an options.
IvyBridge vs Bulldozer
7k vs 600 series.

Nice for people like me who want to do a full new build early next year, sucks for people who want to buy asap.

Im with you Lonyo! 🙂

cheers spinejam!

I've got a ton of 6970s/6950s/5xxx series for sale as well 😛

And yeah the reason I put mine up for sale was the 7xxx series... so this blows :\

Looks like I'll be using GTX 560 Ti SLI longer than I wanted to =\

I wouldnt be upgrading gfx this year anyway... but I know that lots of other people would love a 28nm GPU for the holidays :E

Next upgrade will probably be 2GB NVIDIA 28nm + Ivy Bridge.

So people that said Nvidia was going to be late, delayed can say AMD is to ? 🙂

If by people you mean Nvidia themselves...

That article is a rambling mess. Not sure why capacity problems with 40nm stuff would be impacting 28nm so much, if anything I would think that would get them to want to move to 28nm more.

The HD 6000 series is not selling as well as AMD would like us to believe. This has resulted in low store stocks

Er, isn't that kinda contradictory?

No rush to move to 7000 series? If its mostly going to be based on VLIW4 why wouldn't AMD be in a rush to get it out? Really even if it was GCN mostly I would think they'd still want it out so that companies could have actual hardware to work with.

No, I'm not saying its not delayed, as I think most people expected it to be anyway because of TSMCs problems (and GF seems to be having issues of their own as well), but this article is shotgunning a bunch of things and some of it seems just outright contradictory.

Kinda curious how much this has to do with the recent Apple deal?

Looks like a good 18 months of bad times to be interested in updgrades in computing. Last year 28nm wasn't ready. Then if you waited for Sandy Bridge, and either bought it and got burned by the chipset recall, or then decided to wait for Bulldozer (which still isn't here). Now 28nm not ready again. SB-E is gimped a bit, and you won't have new video cards to go with it, so some probably might hold off to Ivy Bridge. Which by the time that gets here we'll be knee deep in IB-E talk, maybe DDR4 as well. Who knows, by then AMD might have even put out a good Bulldozer based CPU?

This is not an official AMD statement, it's rumor. This should be labeled just the same as if it was S/A or Fudzilla had reported it.

I'm not saying it's true or not, just that it's a rumor only at this point.

DDR4 isnt going to be out till late 2013, most likely not till 2014 and mass adoption by 2015. Good luck buying IB with ddr4 considering it will be outdated by hanswell in late 2012/2013. I wouldnt expect a consumer mobo to support ddr4 till whatever the enthusiast version of Hanswell is out or possibly rockwell.

As for this article, unless it comes from AMD's lips I dont believe it.

Id think S/A is more reliable then Fudzilla, and that even Fudzilla seems less biased than NordicHardware does 😛

They just did that "test" drive of the bulldozer with crappy results too right? (apperntly everyone has a engineering sample they can just test).

Im calling Bulls*** on this, and stuff from Nordichardware.

At the very least the topic thread should be re-labelled to
"RUMOR - Nordichardware claims AMD 7000 delayed to 2012".

The way the thread is labelled now, it sounds like its "fact" when its just some rumor from 1 source only.

Well that sucks monkey nuts. I was going to treat myself to a new card and monitor for xmas...hopefully this rumor is bunk.
