Yes, pretty much this. Like many human pathogens, minor natural mutations have been seen. As is the case, none of these have overtaken the two main strains because they aren’t any more successful than the predominant strains. We don’t need to be concerned unless certain factors change, such as:I figure I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and respond as if you are not a Wumao, even though you didn't dispute it when we communicated months ago.
Anyway, the genes for the spike protein are proving to be relatively stable, so many (most?) vaccines being developed intentionally generate the antibodies that target this protein. The only mutation I have heard of that seems to resist existing antibodies is from the minks in Denmark and word is that they were likely able to stop/contain that (perhaps it couldn't easily spread between humans?). Still, even if it does cause an antigenic shift in the human virus that dodges the vaccine and circulates back through everyone, the work done on this vaccine will accelerate development on the one needed for that strain, much like the yearly flu vaccines.
Until I hear otherwise, I'm not terribly worried about that.
There is no indication that SARS-CoV-2 rapidly mutates or reassorts in the same way influenza does.Hello strangers, no more expectation on vaccine please, mutated types would've already spread with such a great number.

nice
Well I know why Trump would be excluded from this particular thing. He already recovered from it, so it's bad optics to waste a vaccine on him.Good to see some actual leadership nearly forgot what it looked like! 🙂
Too bad the pathetic joke of a "man" in the White house is incapable of the same!
😡

Still I have to wonder if he's even capable of cooperating with Obama to do something good.
How long should I wait to get tested if I was potentially exposed? Sister in law was with someone last friday who we just found out tested positive, and we hung out with the sis in law on Sunday. So I'm around the 5 day period. She's getting a rapid test done today and will let me know in a few hours. If she's negative should I just not worry about it unless I get symptoms or just go get tested? I can get in later today or first thing tomorrow.
5 days post exposure should be enough for PCR tests. Given the variety of rapid tests and their sensitivities I'd probably not rely on her test.
If you count Sunday today would be the 5th day. I went to the test center and they said I should take it so I got swabbed. Sis in laws results were: Bro in law positive, sis in law negative. Off to home I go again. Can't go back to work unless I get a negative result.
My wife was sent home too. She cannot go back for 14 days, even if she gets a negative result in that time. Now the whole family is going to get tested. Awesome...
He kinda did, back in October. It seems the assassination attempt failed though. Curse Walter Reid Medical Center and their world-class DO doctors! 😉Vaccine would be wasted on the likes of the Trumpster under any circumstances IMO. (unless he gets a special "live-virus" version!)
😉
Correct me if I'm wrong, but one or both of these trials in the U.S. is going slowly and far from the 30k-ish volunteers needed.AZ/Oxford and J&J are in phase three trials here that will probably show results before the end of the year. Unless one of those is approved in January with a couple hundred million doses sitting around I'd generally expect April/May for on demand vaccination of low-risk population. If Pfizer or Moderna (via Lonza their contractor) can speed things up even more that timeline will shrink of course.
Yea, good idea. I've been watching a TON of CNN, FOX and even NEWSMAX. Plus, I've been on YouTube and WOW.. There are a lot of conspiracy videos on there. 😵
I am NOT holding you! 😉
Seriously dude ... not saying you shouldn't be a LITTLE scared because that helps keep you safe but too much fear can be crippling.
Step 1 is TURN OFF the news. 🙂

Latest news. SK has over 600 new cases, a 9 months record high and 500K high school students are taking the national college exam with the virus lurking around.
Dr. Scott Atlas wasn't joking when he encouraged TG dinners with elderly relatives by saying this could be the final Thanksgiving for some people.Well .... that IS some more happy news! Super freaking dee duper!!! 😳 😵
Do you get the feeling that right around Christmas the $hit is going to hit the proverbial fan all over the country?? Not much to be done about it at this point either.
😕
Imagine only having 600 new cases.Latest news. SK has over 600 new cases, a 9 months record high and 500K high school students are taking the national college exam with the virus lurking around.
I was about to say the same thing. Is it because the US has more people with underlining health problems such as obesity, problem with heart + lung, smoking, drinking, drugs (subscription and illegal stuffs) and so on and the virus is just the last push over the edge?
