Reporters and travelers talking about it last night on twitter. People being because they thought the ban applied to them even as Americans. Also people stopped boarding flights out of the country too after the address because there was confusion if they could get back into the country.
Trump's usual lack of clarity is a major detriment to this situation. That address included several enormous errors or omissions.

Multiple European countries have now declared states of emergency and/or closed all their schools and universities.
I really don't know how one is supposed to decide on the merits of preventing all such mixing of large groups of people, vs the long-and-short-term economic costs of shutting everything down like that. Much as I'd like to condemn our (UK) government for not acting decisively to avoid transmission of the virus, I can't honestly say I know whether doing this is worthwhile or not.

It's how most of these animal viruses gain the ability to spread person to person after patient zero. Patient zero gets it directly from an animal but it can't spread person to person until it mutates or combines with an endemic human coronavirus. That's when it gains the abilities of a human coronavirus with the novel differences of a new animal virus that we lack immunity to.

wonder if that is whats happening when you see the pics/vids of "seemingly healthy" folks suddenly dropping dead. I think it has to be more than just Covid-19 causing this.

I think the issue is, that this virus already had an established naming convention, of Coronavirus or COVID-19. The affix of 'Wuhan' or 'Chinese' has been implemented in an attempt to distance the US from the virus, and to create a scapegoat for this administration's inaction. It also happens to be a great way to incite racism.

Nah, it's racist, or rather, it's xenophobic/political with racism as a possible side-effect. Only people calling it 'Chinese corona virus' are those with a track-record of nationalism and anti-Chinese sentiment in particular. There's no objective need to use the word 'Chinese' in that context - other names are clearly available, like novel coronavirus or covid19 - that terminology is clearly being forced self-conciously for political reasons.
The supposed other examples given are obviously different - there are zillions of different flu strains, and there's a valid reason to give a particular outbreak a unique identifier, plus most of them are old - even xenophobia sometimes gets neutered by age and tradition.
(And "Spanish flu" has always been an unfair one itself - it didn't originate in Spain, the Spanish just happened to report on it more honestly, but as the Spanish are not a group that get stigmatised and as the US isn't a major rival power of Spain, it doesn't really matter all that much)

I do think CNN is a big problem. They're supposed to be a legitimate news source & they're putting up tabloid-style headlines.
People tend to accept things at face value, whether they read CNN, Fox News, NBC, etc., so posting inflammatory stuff in the middle of a health crisis is stupid. But they're in it for the money & they know things will settle down over time. They're the leading online news website with over 100 million visitors monthly: (at least as of 2018)

Got me wondering what the Germans call "German Measles". Was seriously hoping it would turn out to be "Polish measles" (and that the Polish would call it "Russian measles" and so on..), but google translate says it's the much duller "Röteln". It's not even a form of measles but a totally-different disease (aka Rubella), so a stupid name all-round, really.
Well, I can believe CNN are a bit crap. Not that I consume that much US media but there's pretty much no UK media outlet I'm especially a 'fan' of. Even the BBC I frequently feel very negative about. What can you do? We live in a world of bias and impure-motives.
Everybody lies and has their own agenda. All you can do is struggle along trying to make your own judgements from a variety of different sources. Made worse by the fact that to get access to different sources costs money that most of us don't really have, and that the voices that shout loudest are those with the most money.
(Am sad that so many media outlets have gone behind paywalls...for a brief period it was possible to freely get information from an unusually large range of different sources...but as real journalism - as opposed to just making stuff up - costs money, that was never going to last)
Just a few weeks ago CNN felt it more important to lecture on racism rather than educate the public on the oncoming pandemic wave about to sweep through the US, Europe and most other parts of the globe. The headline is even more absurd considering the virus actually was spreading rapidly through the US at the time, just as many experts were predicting.

So, I read somewhere about a week ago that the incubation period was 1 to 14 days, but averaging 5 days. But I can't seem to find any demographical information on the recovery times by age group for those without underlying conditions. For anyone asking for themselves, 'what's the risk of catching, and recovery, there isn't much out there, easy to find, or clouded in big number stats not applicable to an individual. The only thing on the individual scale I can find are meme's on IMGUR about TP hording and the sacking of Costco TP supplies. 😀

Well, "Spanish Flu" actually kind of proves their point about undue association. It was called "Spanish Flu" because their press didn't suppress it like all the countries trying to preserve troop morale during World War I. The public's perspective was that Spain started reporting cases first so it came from Spain even though it was all over by that point.
Still, the origin is scientifically useful and is perfectly acceptable. No one is complaining about MERS being named for the region (Middle East).
