If the economy in mainland china is crumble from this virus, the whole real estate in mainland china will crash. All of that investment money into real estate, especially the 2nd and 3rd homes as "investments" will be gone. Scary thought.

I wonder how long that will stick. I'm about to buy another house at the beginning of next year in a pretty over-inflated area for housing prices. It would be nice if prices dropped and interest rates went down a bit.

Beyond the eight cases in Massachusetts, several people who traveled through Boston now have tested positive for the coronavirus, including a man in Tennessee, a man in Indiana and two people abroad.

Everywhere is becoming a hotspot right now. We're up to doubled cumulative cases from like, yesterday.

20-something cases in NYC (gonna asplode soon), armful in MA, new cases in PA today. About half the states have at least one case now.

My county in MD has 3 confirmed cases. A couple in their 70's and a woman in her mid 50's I believe. They were all traveling abroad prior. It would be nice to know where they are in the county though so people could figure out if they could potentially have encountered these people.

Just came back from Costco in north Atlanta. They now have plenty of bottled water, toilet paper, wipes, etc. In fact, I've never seen so many pallets of bottled water there ever. But they do have sign posted that members can only buy 2 cases at a time and 3 for water. The warehouse was crowded again today. Not as crowded as last Thursday but still way above normal traffic for regular Friday.

I bought another roll of toilet paper just in case. Skipped the water since I have plenty. Bought some flank steak, turkey breast, and spare ribs to smoke and grill.

Actually, any beer in clear or green glass often has a skunked flavor due to UV light. It's no wonder they have to lime it up to make it more palatable. Marketing and the lime accessory is what sells Corona (in bars, by pools, and in restaurants). Sales are somewhat seasonal as it is....

I really like most Mexican lagers, particularly the dark ones because they were directly influenced by Germans. I'm big on Vienna lagers.

the green class is necessary because what skunks beer--usually hops-derived loopulones (forget what they are called), which are formed during the brewing process, break down at different rates based on hop variety and each one's specific sensitivity to certain light waves.

green is chosen for...I think lagers and pilsners? that typically contain the hop varieties that are more sensitive to the light that is filtered out by the green glass. clear is for beers that are generally more robust; but I also suspect it is fine for high-volume, high-consumption beer (never sitting on the shelf very long).

honestly, these are all just confirmed cases, because testing is made available. It's amazing how there is this direct correlation to when each state actually begins testing, that cases are suddenly "found" in those states.

yeah, I was thinking this too. I assume that they are going with prudence and directly informing the individuals known to be in contact with them, first, so that they can more directly track where it would be. Probably better not to just blast all over the news specific locations.

Tests are lagging indicator. That's what I said about South Korea days ago when the number of confirmed cases there exploded. I said that's because South Korea began to aggressively test for cases. I said at the time, South Korea will soon be on the decline in the number of cases and I still believe that. I think the worst is over for China and South Korea. I've seen pictures and heard of first hand accounts on how seriously everyone is taking the virus there. Streets and stores in China and South Korea are virtually empty now. Shop owners are not even bothering opening the store because no one will visit and shop.

It's here in the US. It's funny to see all the rich old people freak out. It's because they're at the highest risk. Rich people travel more.

Yep. People were critical of Iran for not restricting travel and public gatherings during the start of the pandemic in their country. In the meantime millions across the US are getting ready to head south for spring break. What could possibly go wrong?

I wax-and-wane in how alarmed I feel about the situation- depending on whether I've recently read something like this, or a report of someone 'dying with' the virus, at the age of 95.

That cult infected other churches. So couple other big churches blew up there as well. Majority of the cases can be traced back to the cult.

Fizz doesn't really do anything for me overall, in any beverage, it's non-factor. I like hops, but I also like a good stout or porter. Something flavorful, lagers are generally just kind of "there".

Couldn't agree more. The regular old American lager is so boring. I also hate extremely gassy beers like Bud Light. A good ale is dang nice especially with dinner. And there are some awesome ones like Old Rasputin that have crazy fun flavors and higher ABV. As I don't drink very much these days, just one of those things (sort of large bottle) sipped over dinner is enough to be satisfying.

I need to grab a couple of those for the lockdown, maybe it will make the waiting less boring haha.

Kroger, the largest supermarket chain in the US, is requesting all online orders of paper related items, disinfect cleaning supplies, water bottles, flu/cold related items, etc. would have a limit of 5 items per order. I will check and see if the B+M stores would have similar policy.

WSJ has an article about how mainland china is a huge supply of components/raw material for US medicines. So if this virus lingers, the US and the rest of the world will be in a world of hurt on medicines/drugs.
