I always return my shopping cart.
Also, I have noticed in parking lots where this seems to be a real problem, there is also a very real solution that works consistently.

Political polarization has been brewing for decades, and Trumpism is arguably damaging America more than COVID-19 itself. Covid just happened to be the avenue for Trump to tank his own reelection (TBD of course).

Long-term, demographics change and I always thought that by 2040, reliably "red" states like Texas would be purple and that the Electoral College math gets challenging for the GOP. Ironically, Trumpism may have accelerated that timetable by at least a decade. That doesn't mean I'm particularly sanguine about long-term prospects; we may be witnessing the slow slide of a superpower. Let's be real honest, it's not like we're enamored by Joe Biden; it's just that compared to the alternative he looks like a champion.

I don't think we'll get the measure of Joe Biden until he gets into office. However, I knew that Trump would be pathetic (if elected, after all he already was pathetic and with almost no reponisiblity, give him responsibility and what's pathetic is America!) way before he was elected.

TBH, returning shopping carts is pretty low on my list of grievances about human behavior. Rather a petty concern. I'm much more pissed at people who are litterbugs, don't wear masks during this 100 year pandemic, hit and run drivers, DUI drivers, cops whose thought is pull and gun a shoot when they lose their cool or a situation seems out of their sense of control. I could go on. Maybe your derelict citizen has an arthritic hip and returning their shopping cart is an agonizing experience. Why shouldn't they let that 19 year old supermarket employee do it instead when they go around and round up the carts in the lot? Or their thinking could be that the person who takes their parking space will have a cart at hand instead of having to locate the cart area?

It's official... Baseball without a crowd watching is even more boring than watching baseball with a crowd cheering. At least NASCAR has some background noise from the car engines... baseball just has eerie silence and the occasional obviously fake crowd noise.

Pfizer/BioNTech posted some more data on their trial RNA vaccine showing it induced a strong CD4 and CD8 response., non dose dependent. Moderna's had a good CD4 response but low CD8. Of course nobody knows what exactly the the most important factors for protection are yet but concerns that we can't create multiple effective vaccines are diminishing rapidly.

I went to get a sandwich, drinks last night and some dude blew up because he was asked to put on a mask. The 2 ladies behind the counter threw his ass out the store. This idiot was cursing, throwing out insults, and he even threatened the one girl. He even said that he was a lawyer and was going to sue. All that he was asked was to either cover his mouth with his tshirt, or to put on a mask. That's it. People are stupid. :confused:

How long are we away from a possible vaccine? 6 months, 1 year? Maybe...

But, here is the issue. Many Americans will not take the vaccine. So, what is the government to do then? Does it become mandatory? Do the police raid homes so they can administator the vaccine? This is going to be the issue, because we could have the vaccine available, but if people aren't willing to take it we could see riots. I figure the people who aren't going to take this vaccine will number in the millions. I can forsee a HUGE isssue with this. Also, even if Trump loses this election I can see him on Twitter posting conspiracy theories about the vaccine, and millions will go right along with the same thought process.

5-6 months before scale vaccinations start would seem like the best case scenario. Might see some emergency use before then if phase 3 data looks good.

Adoption could be a problem but I'm torn on how severe it will be. We're really going to go through it here in the next few months which could change a lot of minds. It will be mandatory for so many people anyway (schools, military, prisons, government workers, travelers, etc) that as long as it's pretty effective we should be able to achieve reasonably protecctive herd immunity. We might not be able to fully eradicate it but between vaccination and better treatment it can be rendered a manageable problem. The big problem will likely be the elderly who don't respond to many vaccines as well as younger people. Though places like nursing homes and hospitals might well bar unvaccinated people out of liability concern.

He must not be a very good lawyer. He obviously doesn't realize he was on private property and they can do whatever they want. :p

So? We only need ENOUGH people to take it. Once we're immune they can get sick if they want to and the people who can't take the vaccine for whatever reason or who have compromised immune systems such that it will not work should draw some protection from herd immunity, and they would need to be taking extra precautions regardless.

No. Well, mandatory for certain things. You might not be able to send your kids to school or work in a nursing home or whatever until vaccinated. Not really any different than current vaccinations that are technically voluntary.

It'll mostly only be an issue for them... hardly a "huge issue." If they opt not to take the vaccine, who cares if they get sick? You seem to be stuck in the mindset of today where getting sick irresponsibly endangers others but we will have a vaccine, remember? :)
