So looks like masks are going to be mandatory in my area now. I guess with stage 3 they feel it's safer as it will mean more stuff will be open including bars and gyms.
I'm glad they published it. I don't like science by press release.
Yes and the delay was really unacceptable. Supposedly they were worried about a leak of material info but I think it's just Moderna being Moderna from what I've read.
Some people online are already "but there are side effects". I got the HPV vaccine last year and lemme tell those people: if it works then you can deal. Felt like someone had been punching me in my upper arm for a few hours especially on the second dose.

Surgical masks have a layer of electrostatically charged fibres that induce dipoles, causing polarity in the viral molecules so they are attracted to and stick to the fibres even though the layers in the masks have much bigger gaps than the diameter of the viral molecules. This is the same principle as how rubbing a balloon on your hair and sticking it to a wall works.
I can be an asymptomatic carrier, not coughing/sneezing, and wearing a cotton reusable mask - am I really spewing anything into the air?
Twitter scuttlebutt is that Oxford/AZ will be publishing some results this week
I'd like to understand the mental gymnastics it takes for folks to be so passionately against masks. If it didn't have widespread implications, it would just be hilarious.
Great news about Walmart and Sams requiring them -- tend to think the majority of their patrons fall into that no-mask-patriot-karen category.
Conservatism in this country has completely morphed into this ultimate version of FYGM where people don't feel any responsibility to the duties that come with living in a society.People who just want/need to be different or "don't-tread-on-me". It's sad they have to be ignorant.
The science of the electrostatic masks:
I saw a tweet earlier today that I believe came from Faucci saying if everyone in the country wore masks for 6-8 weeks we could have this thing under control. That is 2 months at most and people won't do that shit. 2 fucking months max.I'd like to understand the mental gymnastics it takes for folks to be so passionately against masks. Our country is so fucking stupid. But then remember who our country also elected president.
There absolutely is a level of protection considering the mask would reduce the initial viral load, giving your body an advantage as the immune system can learn to recognize the virus and start responding before the virus reaches the same numbers as someone who ingested the droplets directly.Let's talk about masks for a second - because I'm running low on the surgical masks and want to do something re-usable. This is what someone posted about surgical masks which make them superior (you tell me if you agree).
Now the cotton reusable masks all over Amazon are supposedly inferior because of this. But in real context of being outside and going to the local store, does it really matter as much? I can be an asymptomatic carrier, not coughing/sneezing, and wearing a cotton reusable mask - am I really spewing anything into the air?
Secondly, let's switch and talk about protecting yourself. I know these masks are meant to protect others from my droplets rather than protect me from airborne droplets, but what is the science on this as far as percentages? I'm sure people "feel safer" by wearing a mask because you're not directly breathing any spores in from open air, but is that even true? Is it the same as breathing it in directly anyway? Or is there still some level of protection?
Does the body really start to "pre-respond" with a small viral load? There absolutely is a level of protection considering the mask would reduce the initial viral load, giving your body an advantage as the immune system can learn to recognize the virus and start responding before the virus reaches the same numbers as someone who ingested the droplets directly.
