Wow! What a season for the NFL, and we are just now in week 2.

I am lost......in between the cheating scandal with the Pat's, the dog fighting case with Vick, and all the other various felonies and screw-ups......welll........is there any dignity left in the sport?

I love the GAME of football. It is one of the most aggressive, challenging, and athletic sports we have around (besides hockey). However, I personally think the NFL league SUCKS. From the crap trash talk from certain players, to cheating, to the way players and coaches handle themselves, the NFL is setting themselves up for a HUGE fall.

I find it insulting that the NFL thinks the fans want to hear about the "crap" about the NFL rather than talking about the game and what not. I remember back when the intermissions and half time shows were about the GAME and how it was/is played. I promise this Sunday, all we will hear about is the Pat's cheating scandal. Does anyone know who Kevin Everett is? This young man was close to dieing, and within a week shows signs that he may walk again....but this WILL not be a top story, or even close to it. It's a shame!

I'm 24....and im THIS CLOSE to giving up on the NFL and sticking strictly to NHL (the game I love the most).

What are your thoughts? I really want to know how you think "crap NFL" will continue to hold.....

As long as they keep playing on Sundays, I don't give a shit about all the extra-curricular activities. I'm more interested in the injury reports than any of that other crap.

You are so out of line its not even funny. You are singling out an entire league because of what a few lowlifes did? I mean they encompass maybe 1% of the entire NFL and the good things that go on in the NFL never gets played on the news.

And in response to Kevin Everett I can't believe your using that as an example of bad things that go on in the NFL. It was a freak accident and things like that rarely if ever happen. Football is a violent gladiator sport and there is nothing wrong with that. Some people love it and others don't and thats fine, but please don't bash an entire sport based on the actions of a few bad apples.

I didn't see the NFL part, only the "Are you fed up" at a glance and was half expecting a K-Fed thread. That is all, I dont realy watch too much NFL. Although I can sit through a game if I make stupid observations and puns

The only thing I care about is that my Cowboys beat the inferior Giants last weekend. Go Cowboys.

I do not care about all that extra-curricular crap either, nor do I care that the OP is giving up on football.

I think he means there are positive stories out there but all they will talk about this week is the Pats and maybe Vick.

However, if you are choosing to give up the NFL for the NHL you may be lost already.

Don't hate the game, hate the playas.

I have similar feelings about the NBA: I dislike the NBA but I still love basketball. As for football, the Jets and Giants are going to suck this year but I'll still watch when I can.

Overall there are a lot bad role models who are overpaid punks. I would like to a comparison of criminal records for various different sports and see how they compare.

All the sports sanctions have gotten bad man, the NHL is not much better. Bertuzzi got what 7 games for ending a rookies career? Then Moore dropped off the face of the planet.

I agree with you, but the NFL is so ingrained in the fabric of American society that if it takes a fall - it will have to be something far more dramatic than cheating or felons.

In fact, a lot of Americans respect the Pats for cheating - they see it as a necessary evil to win the game rather than what it really is - a shinning example of what is wrong with sports - moral deficiency.

The problem is you can see examples of moral defiencies in all sports (including hockey)
Ron Artest (any number of things)
Kobe Bryant (Cheating)
McLaren (Cheating)
Mike Bell (DUI)
Marty McSorley (Stick incident)
Dany Heatley (DUI)
etc...

There are very few
Gretzky
Montana
Ripken

of the world. :(

Nice thing is that they now have a commish with a backbone that is actually laying down meaningful fines and suspensions. No ticky tack slaps on the wrists.

Half and full season suspensions for a couple players this year for conduct.

The "spying" incident resulted in $750,000 in fines plus a loss of potential draft picks.

This guy means business.

When the F1 McLaren team is fined $100 million and stripped of all of the points they have for cheating, $750k is nothing.....seeing as the NFL is worth 100x as much as F1 racing. Each NFL team is worth around $750 million - $1.5 billion. A team like the Pats should be fined more, the coach should be fired.....and all fans should boo the Pat's (and players) for all knowing this shit was going on. How long was it going on.....was it going on when the Pat's won the Super Bowls?

Can we not start this conversation again. There's a whole thread dedicated to it, and most the conversation is so circular and stupid at this point that we should just let it die, or at least live in only one thread.

Only someone who doesn't know anything about football or the NFL would think like you.
