Next-Gen Console Poll

What platforms will you buy for 2013-2014 timeframe?

  • None. Will keep what I've got (PC/PS3/360/etc)

  • Xbox One

  • Playstation 4

  • Wii U

  • PC

  • Mobile (3DS/Vita/iOS/Android/etc)

Will keep my ps3 until they totally stop making ps3 games. I don't have tons of time to game anymore, so I will probably end up getting the ps4 in 2015, and maybe toss in a new GPU/CPU sometime around then, too.

Right this second everything but Xbone. If Sony pulls similar shit, I'm done.

This.

I have a couple Xbox360's but based on the specs, "used" games issues, and DRM = no thanks.

Sony has a chance to crush the console market if they don't F it up.

as of now i plan on upgrading my PC and maybe getting a PS4

Same here. If there are some good launch titles and great xmas holiday bundles I might pick up the PS4. If not, I'll just work on whittling down my Steam and GoG backlog while I wait for it to have some games I "need" to play.

Allowing for the future, probably a PS4 in the late 2014 window, if there's anything interesting or unique for the PS4 that I want. I don't feel the urge to get anything new at the moment, though. I sold my Xbox 360 after playing Halo 4, haven't touched my Wii in probably 1 1/2 years and am only playing through Resident Evil 6 on the PS3 currently.

PC is back in a big way with Steam. I do more gaming on the PC now than the past few years.

Already have a decent PC, though upgrading it will probably happen. Overall, I'm cautiously excited about the PS4. Unless Sony screws something up, I will be getting one as soon as Amazon opens up pre-orders. I'm mostly interested in using my Vita in conjunction with the PS4. Maybe I'm getting old, but the PC is becoming my favorite platform and the Wii U is the first time I passed on a major console in 30 years (I don't count the Neo Geo or Jaguar).

I have a great gaming PC, but I'll buy a PS4 probably 8-10 months after launch so they can work out any kinks in the early systems. Not interested in an Xfail this gen whatsoever.

I'm not sure why everybody seems to think SONY is going to be nicer on used games. I hate what MS is doing.. but have no illusions Sony isnt following suit. MS has said "its up to the game dev" .. and TA DA! so has sony, they have said the EXACT same thing.. do some of you think if game for the Xbox has a DRM feature for no trades, used sales, the sony version will be different?

if you don't like the always on EYE, that's a different story, or as you say SPECS, yes Sony seems to be slightly ahead on that brute force side.

first console generation I wont be buying, big brother is getting far to cocky and "forcing" DRM that is not user freindly in any way.. no go in my book..

and of course if Sony somehow does do something different (cant see how, what game dev will sell a game with Super DRM on one system and non on the other?) then i agree. Sony has my money.

yes, because sony has never once alluded to having anything like that, so why would one even think they would do that?

and just fyi, the ps3/360 gen developers could also charge a fee for used game "activation" and EA did it with the online pass. so it's not like all of a sudden because they CAN do it on ps4 that every company is going to jump on board and do it.

your post makes me think you may be confused as to how it's actually working with the x1.

you ask how will developers make cross platform games different on the x1 and ps4? well think about it. on the current gen all games for 360 REQUIRED to be live compatible, yet that was something ripped out for the ps3 version. so i'm not sure why you think it is impossible to make cross platform games different on different platforms.

I don't think anyone was confused about that. Obviously there will be differences between platforms, always have been, always will be.

Pretty sure what he's saying is, if MS is going to implement strict DRM, there's nothing stopping Sony from also enacting some sort of DRM. They might make it less restrictive to appear better than MS, but there is a good chance they'll have something.

Anyway, I'm just going to stick with my PC. I have an Xbox 360, my second, and I won't buy a third if this one dies. I rarely play mine anyway. I have just never enjoyed console gaming as much as PC gaming. If I do get anything, it would be a Wii U, but not until late in the cycle. There aren't enough console-exclusive games for it to be worth having both a PS/Xbox AND a PC, and the Wii U has the best local multiplayer. And I have a kid who will probably enjoy the Wii U when she gets old enough to play video games.

Well, I have a PC and that isn't going away any time soon. And the Xbox One and PS4 both look like, as of now, purchases in my future. It does depend on games though. If one console has amazing exclusives and one only has cross platform stuff, I will probably skip that one.

No i might be wrong but MS has said the Used game DRM is "up to the dev" or am i wrong here? Sony has said the same thing.. I can sure be wrong.. I care about used games prices.. 75% of of the 300 or so 360 games i own where off ebay, or gamefly sales.. I dont mind paying $2.99-$15.99 for games.. and buy many.

am i wrong.. is this MS one stuff something different?

Used games: MS said its up to devs.. they are not making anything off "fee's" on used games but they are giving devs the option to enforce them.

Sony has said the EXACT same thing.. so if im wrong. please point it out.. MS had been so wishy washy and vague its very possible I don't know my whit ...

Sony already said long ago that they support being able to take your disk and play it in any system. If you have the physical media, you can play it anywhere.

There was no "but only friends on your list for 30 days and only once"
