I'm going to dream big and say SGS III will be Exynos 5250 dual core A15. I know it's not supposed to go into mass production til Q2 but I say Samsung surprises the world and rushes it out for SGS III. 720p SAMOLED+ is a given but I wonder if Samsung will surprise with 1080p SAMOLED pentile.

there was another thread that display manufacturers qouted as saying 4.6" screen on S3 with same PPI as existing products, so i'd assume 720p is most probable if the reports are accurate at all.

Spec-wise, the SGS3 will be a juggernaut.

Oh, I'm 99% sure SGS3 will have 720p screen. It's probably 4.5" or 4.6" SAMOLED+ 720p. I doubt Samsung even has the technology to make 4.6" 1080p SAMOLED right now. It's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm about where I need to be with power/hardware. The next thing I want is efficiency and decent battery life.

From current benchmarks and mali 604 descriptions, I expect exynos 4412 to be very similar to tegra 3 in performance. If 4412 is built on 32nm (don't remember), the power usage might even be as low or lower than t3 with it's low power 5th core. I totally agree with poofy, A15 exynos will be the one to wait on.
I love the leap frog that's going on now, T3, 2c Krait, 2c A15 Exynos, 4c Krait with Adreno 320, then 4c A15 from Sammy or TI...

The Mali T-604 is supposed to be as much as 5x as fast as the Mali 400 clock for clock so it should easily dominate Tegra 3 on the gpu front. Exynos also has dual channel memory vs single channel on Tegra 3. i wouldn't be surprised if Samsung clocked the 4412 higher than Tegra 3 as well.

Ahh this is my bad, I was confused because I remembered reading that the gpu in 4412 was supposed to only be 50% faster than one in the current exynos. I mistakenly though it was the 604, but it looks like it's 'just' a mali 400 at 400mhz.
So you're right that 604 will destroy tegra 3, but we probably won't have that until A15 exynos dual core and above. With that in mind, I still believe that tegra 3 will be really close to 4412 in performance, maybe just not in battery life.

Mali 604 should be shipping with Exynos 4412, Mali 658 should be shipping with Exynos 5250.
Exynos 4412 is A9, Exynos 5250 is A15.

And as to the 5x performance, in theory no doubt.

My LTE Galaxy Nexus with a 2100mAh battery has pretty good longevity. It won't last a full day with the screen on playing games like a Droid Razr Maxx will but it will last a full day with a decent amount of juice to spare if you use it normally.

I am going to say something is fake on this. It shows a Mali 400? No way does the new exynos use the 400..... at least I sure hope not. Or it is a bug, who knows. By 4 x A7's /w a Mali 400? That ain't happening.

I was under the impression that the fact that this is a quad core SoC means it's decidedly NOT the new 5250.

Looks fake to me, too. At best, it might be an early hardware tester in a dummy shell, but in no way does that look like a finished phone.

Samsung purposely encases their test phones in old or generic cases to keep the suspension intact. In this case the only thing of interest is what's running on the inside.

I was under the impression that the 4412 will use mali400 with faster clocks and memory (quad A9, most likely SoC for the S3). The 5250 line is supposed to be the mali604 with dual A15 cores.

Possibly, it's all rumor I guess.

Dont sell the Mali-400 short, its going to be clocked at 440 mhz. It got 92 fps in GL Egypt benchmark that has since been taken down. It will be faster GPU wise than anything on Android in 2012

Infact im more bothered that its still Cortex A9s. It cant compete with Krait
