Still, I'd probably hit it.

Not even Quebert would hit that.

I don't think he meant "hit it" as in sex0r.

I think he implied some whipping

Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late
To whip it
Whip it good

People who feel it necessary to run around calling out fatties usually have something going on in their lives that they could just as easily be called out on too.

Does the email writer go around emailing fatty teachers, doctors, policeman, etc? Or better yet does he go around telling fatties to their face?

I doubt it.

I'm not so sure I'd call it "bullying" either. But the argument made in the e-mail is pretty specious. Women in the media tend to be rail thin, which sends a message to girls that they should be self-conscious if they don't look exactly like that, and can lead to eating disorders among other problems. I see no reason that every woman on the air must be skinny.

Also, does anyone seriously think that if she was male and overweight to the exact same degree that she would still have received that same e-mail? Of course not.

Maybe they do, but they just don't get all worked up over it.

she just publicly made it seem like it's ok to be fat and it kinda isn't. it greatly affects the cost of healthcare in this country.

what she should have done was pick up the gauntlet and accept the challenge to lose weight, publicly, and invited everyone else who is in her shoes to do the same and make it a weekly challenge. the person who loses the most weight and has the best before and after pictures since the start of the contest wins a prize from the news station.

^ This. Way better idea.

Good points. I don't think it's particularly bullying to tell a fat person they are fat, but it's certainly a grand sense of entitlement to presume you know best how another person should live her life assuming she is hurting no one else.

I'm going to agree with the letter writer on this one. Obesity is a very serious problem, and projected to hit some 60%+ in the next few decades. You don't solve a problem by hiding from it because it hurts someone's feelings. Sorry lady, you are obese. I did not hear anything your video about getting into shape or promoting a healthy lifestyle. All I heard was an obese person whining that someone called her out on it.

That is such bullshit. If that's true the same can be said of drugs, drinking, unprotected sex, smoking, etc., etc., etc. Pick a subject. The hate expressed by people on this forum towards those who are overweight is disgusting. Fuck all you haters.

all of those things you mentioned pale in comparison to obesity. More than 30% of the population is obese and the trend is only increasing. Nobody is hating on fat people; if the author of this letter wanted to be a jackass he could have written a mean, nasty letter with much more creative language. But he didn't. Of course, this lady is so self-righteous that she can't even see this and therefore accuses him of bullying and name-calling and all these other tangential topics that have nothing to do with the growing obesity epidemic.
