At least those in the former Pac-10 (formerly the Pac-8, BTW) can count...and see...and think:

MotionMan

If another conference called the Pac-12 existed, could/would the Pac-10 (formerly the Pac-8, BTW) call itself the Pac-12? Think carefully now 🙂

They could do the East/West or North/South just fine. If you look at the SEC, they have Vandy in the East when Auburn is farther east than Nasheville. Fudging it some would not hurt especially if it gives a better balance, which is why the SEC chose that alignment.

I like the slow & slower idea...

Loss of Purdue? Just because Hummel is out you consider the season lost?
Depends how you want to look at it, I suppose. Purdue was a consensus top-3 and Final Four pick. After watching the first ten games, no, I don't think they're anywhere close to that right now. But crazy things happen.

. . .
The color is weak too.
I'm thinking that they had to use a color that doesn't favor one of the schools. (Thus, no red, no green, no dark blue.)

But it doesn't preclude the Big10 becoming the 'Large 12,' 'Hefty 12,' or 'Big & Tall 12.'

Meh, the Big 12 should go back to calling themselves the "Southwest Conference", and the Big Ten should just call it self the "Big Conference" 🙂. Get rid of the silly numbering so they don't have to change things when expansion or contraction happens again.

The leaders and legends stuff sucks, the logo is "meh", the team alignments are good. I have to laugh at the idiots who think the big ten is irrelevant or somehow inferior to some other conference. Hate to break it to you, but the big ten makes more total money than all the other conferences (including the SEC). They are most certainly a financial powerhouse, like them or not.

4 of the top 6 money making schools in the country are in the big 10 (OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State)

And? Which conference gets the lion's share of 4 and 5 star recruits? Which conference has won the last 4 national championship games.

Yeah, I realized that after, forgot to say anything. It's pretty clear on the logo where the B is black and the 1G is blue that the point is to look like B10.

Last time I checked, student athletes competed in more than 1 sport. The SEC is strong in football at this point, but weak in just about everything else. Overall, the SEC generates the second most revenue in college sports. Football brings home the bacon for sure, but it's not the only thing.

The big ten still has 3 out of the top 10 ranked football teams right now (sec has 2). You can argue about conferences all day long, but anyone who calls the Big Ten irrelevant or inferior in college athletics or even football specifically is a dope.

Financially and in competition the big ten is at or near the top of every category.

And? And what? He was saying the Big 10 is a financial powerhouse, and it is. He said nothing about recruiting, or national champions. We know you're an SEC homer and hit it hard, but you need to calm down a bit. Of course the SEC is going to eat 4-5 star recruits.. guess where A LOT of them come from? That's right, Florida - one of the best recruiting states in the country. At really? Using the "short term memory" argument again? Yes, the SEC has dominated the NCG in recent years, we know, we've all seen the games. Take a step back, it hasn't always been that way, the SEC/Big 12/Big 10 have all been pretty close when it comes to all time total national champs (of current members).

Yes but it still looks retarded just like everything else about this announcement. Why are the QB and RB awards only represented by a single school? And obviously Leaders and Legends is horrible.

At least they picked the right schools for RB and QB awards. I don't really have an issue.

they remembered that no one touches the big ten in academics and they get sad again, since thats what college is all about anyways right? :awe:

Meh, take Michigan out of the equation and your academics aren't all that impressive. The Pac 10 is the only conference that has any right to brag about their academics.

Big 10 has 5 in the top 50 uni's. So does Pac 10 (but they average higher). SEC has 2. Big 12 has 1.
