- Proactively troubleshoot and determine the best configuration to optimize application configuration to ensure performance and reliability.
- Document and communicate procedures, configurations, standards, etc.
- Works in collaboration with the Network Operations, Systems and Storage, Database teams to ensure service availability and prompt issue resolution.
- On call as needed (24/7/365)

ROLE:
The Consultative Engineering Team develops both customized and standard product solutions using existing METTLER TOLEDO weighing products, PC-based systems, customized software, and a variety of 3rd party supplied components to create application specific product solutions. The consultative engineering Project Engineer works within the Worthington Industrial Engineering Group which provides project and order engineering, technical product support, and product development / launch support for industrial products under development. This role will work closely with project managers, industrial business leaders, as well as engineering, procurement, and manufacturing team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide hardware/software engineering for Consultative products built by the METTLER TOLEDO Worthington facility to include:
• Develop design concepts, evaluate design alternatives, and provide costing estimates based on project requirements
• Create mechanical and electrical manufacturing drawings
• Create bills of materials
• Develop custom firmware/software solutions as needed
• Create user documentation including electrical interconnect drawings and user operating instructions as needed
• Create manufacturing support documentation
• Manage product performance testing and regulatory compliance testing as needed
• Provide support to Project Management, including reporting on the status of project deliverables according to METTLER TOLEDO Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) guidelines
• Provide technical support to the Marketing Organization, including field service technicians, for assigned products
• Provide technical product training as required

EDUCATION:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two or more years of product design experience; preferably within a technical, industrial, or capital equipment field with specific areas of weighing / measurement, data collection / communications, or process control
• Strong technical aptitude related to industrial networking, controls, and electrical apparatuses
• Demonstrated skill in the use of AutoCad or a similar technical drawing program
• Experience with programming languages such as C++, C#, .NET (Visual Studio)
• Experience and demonstrated aptitude with TCP/IP communications and PLC communications preferred
• Hardware and software product development experience preferable
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet engineering completion deadlines
• The motivation, adaptability, and professional qualities to work with multiple disciplines across global organizations
• Experience working within an organization using Project Management principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to lead projects and work as part of a project team
• Sound analytical abilities and business sense

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position has a travel requirement of up to 15% including both domestic and international travel (by commercial or personal means, including economy class air travel). The ability to obtain a passport with valid visas for entry into countries throughout the world is required.
