Sorry I've been working 80+ hr weeks since Katrina hit.

More bad news for New Orleans folks that already lost their homes & cars, now they will lose their jobs:

10-2-2005 City of New Orleans to lay off up to three thousand workers

The job termination order was signed Thursday by Chief Administrative Officer Brenda Hatfield and sent to the city's Civil Service Commission, the agency that oversees the hiring and firing of city workers.

The Times-Picayune reports today that without a significant infusion of cash, the number of layoffs could approach three thousand and would take effect on October 14th.

That's ridiculous. Why wouldn't the government assure the peoples' jobs in a natural disaster situation? Nice that places just abandon people when they need them the most....especially nice when it is government doing it. :disgust:

The city is broke.

No money came through from the Federal or State level to help keep the city operating without the tax stream from businesses that have been lost due to the storm.

We keep sending Billions to Iraq but not a penny for home.

Wow, just wow. That's an interesting way to look at it and a poignant remark on the situation. I would be hard pressed to disagree with it too.

I'm a Electrical Engineering student graduating in December 2005 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (in Troy, NY), looking for an entry-level position.

Relocation is not really a problem, but would prefer somewhere in the Northeast or California.

Please PM me if you'd like a resume. Thanks for the space! :)

Our company is looking for a few good engineers.

A full-time electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science position is open to work on defense and homeland security related projects. Knowledge with communication systems, networks, wireless systems, and antennas are a plus. The current position will cover systems level design, engineering support and testing tasks. Excellent writing skills are a plus. Advanced degrees are a plus. The position is available in Tampa, FL and some travel is required. Employee must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining a Top Secret security clearance.

If you have extensive experience with IP based networks, TCP/IP, etc., then we are definitely interested.

You can send resumes to sendpicshere@gmail.com. I know this is a Gmail address, but I don't want to flood my work email with resumes. If you don't want to send your resume to the Gmail address, send me a quick note with your email and I'll email you a detailed overview.

Thanks!

Looks like the axe may fall soon at my current employer so it's time to test the waters...

Looking for a position, preferably in or around central Kentucky. Would prefer a software development position but willing to consider a software architect position or possibly a software project management position. BS degrees in computer science and physics with an extensive background in mathematics. 10 years experience developing system-level software. Previous tasks have included system level debuggers, Unix device drivers (Linux, HP-UX, Solaris) and custom cryptographic software currently in use at several large European banks and root-level certificate authorities.

PM me if you have a position that might fit.

Count me in the recently unemployed and looking for work in the Harrisburg, PA area. Was a Web Applications Developer / System Admin. Lots of LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) experience. Administered my company's web server and several client servers over the course of 2 years, programmed PHP/MySQL web applications & handled tech support. Can't go into specifics about why I resigned (for company privacy reasons), but it was unfortunately my only choice and now I'm looking for work again. PM for a resume.

Roo media is hiring an encoding/streaming media engineer for its NYC studio on East 43rd street. They want a person with tons of technical skills and experience but are only paying in the $40~45K range. I was told the job listing was posted on monster and hotjobs, but cound not find it. I did not look that hard though. I don't have any contact info for the HR dept, but they are an Australian based company. I have had my fill with working for start-ups, so good luck if you're interested.
