As someone who is very new to Netflix (less than one year), I originally subscribed to streaming only, added the DVD and Bluray later on.But it is not like I am investing anything in Netflix. I rent access to their stuff on a month-to-month basis. For me, streaming-only, nothing has changed. If anything changes for the worse for me, I may consider dropping it.
It seems to me that the all-DVD people are in the same boat.
I am not sure why anyone other than the people who NEED both would be canceling. I do not understand all the panties in a bunch.

I found that most of the movies and TV shows that I want to watch are on discs, so I had to look extra hard to find stuff for streaming. I tolerate it because I can stream on the PS3 and my phone, Top Gear reruns are always funny (yeah and a few other shows). Since they've announced the separation of accounts, I promptly canceled the DVD portion, simply because I can get newer and more convenient option on the PS3 (read - Vudu).
Value for money, I can probably go with hulu plus, or Amazon prime and get the same streaming contents, heck I'm even tempting to look at blockbuster's service where you can get movies, streaming and games for ten bucks. Then there are red box, greencine, etc...and I'm sure you're familiar with apple tv and some other services, and they're fast encroaching in netflix.
I'm not the only one that can see those options available to me, I'm sure there are more. For Netflix CEO to make boneheaded moves like these, is corporate suicide.
