Hmm, no. If you don't like Netflix, don't pay for it.

I love Netflix. If there is a better option out there, please, someone show me the light, and I'll love that service even more. But otherwise, stop being retarded. I don't bitch and whine about services I don't like, I just don't buy them...

thanks for making your point (and mine) again. :)

As far as I can tell:

1. For people who were streaming only (~9.8 million), nothing has changed;
2. For people who were disks only (~2.2 million), nothing has changed (except the name);
3. For people who were disk and streaming (~12 million), their price increased 60% and their products were split over two companies.

Am I missing anything?

Yes motionman, you are missing something. The Netflix CEO murdered all of our mothers. All of them

You're missing the ~800K people has canceled their DVD or streaming service last month.

You're missing the hundreds of thousands more accounts being canceled due to the new idiotic separation - myself included.

You're missing that the future doesn't look too bright due to increase licensing, diminishing contents, and more and stronger competitors, etc...

I think you'll be just fine running along side Reed Hastings. I mean, you haven't missed anything. Let them have latte! What can go wrong?!!!

i know people who HAD both streaming and dvd by mail who said they just kept dvd by mail from the old days and have switched to streaming only because of the price hike. I feel that is the option a LOT of people took. I would expect that just as many people who canceled service entirely switched to stream only.

Because I hate the name Quickster.

This is another problem. It is QWickster NOT Quickster. They failed to get that domain. When I first read the email I immediately opened a browser and typed in quickster.com... WRONG... I can guarantee there's a domain squatter out there that just became VERY happy.

They also failed to get @qwickster on twitter or register qwickster on facebook.

Oops.

EDIT... Even I failed the fucking spelling. It is officially Qwikster. They did manage to get Qwickster.com and redirect to Qwikster.com. Ugh.

I'm still waiting for a reason why anyone would keep streaming only?
Selection is poor, you don't get any new releases, and quality is just ok.

Unless you just like to watch the same old movies over and over, then i guess i get it, but otherwise I don't see the point.

I use it mostly for TV shows. :\

The same question I always had. The response I usually get is "I don't watch TV so its all new to me". Unfortunately you are getting the dregs of TV/Movies from the streaming service.

You apparently only like certain things? I am watching star trek, top gear, star gate, etc. Besides one of the things being thrown around is netflix will be acquiring a fairly large selection of movies in the next month or so.

Oh this is interesting to watch... stock has nose dived in 4 days and it just keep going down (another 8% this morning). I have to wonder if the CEO is just this fucking stupid or if he shorted his own damn company for millions before doing this. I mean he can't be this stupid can he? I also can't imagine he could get away with the 2nd option.

Some of the media is just now reporting the story.... it's only going to get worse at least in the short term.

I like watching old TV shows (i.e Emergency!) and my kids like the cartoons (i.e. Pink Panther).

There is never a shortage of things for us to watch on Neflixster.

But it is not like I am investing anything in Netflix. I rent access to their stuff on a month-to-month basis. For me, streaming-only, nothing has changed. If anything changes for the worse for me, I may consider dropping it.

It seems to me that the all-DVD people are in the same boat.

I am not sure why anyone other than the people who NEED both would be canceling. I do not understand all the panties in a bunch.

If they let me get 1 DVD (2 a month) + unlimited streaming that would be better for me. No idea why they don't offer that now from the looks of the website. That said I probably could just create two accounts to accomplish the same thing but I've been to lazy.

a needless butchering of one of the internets greatest brands

Netflix has been killed. Reed Hastings MURDERED IT.

Imagine if FORD spun off FORD trucks into QWIKTRUCKS in 1930. Why? Well uh no reason really but people are starting to buy more cars ya see..................................Also we uh........wanted to dilute and destroy our brand.

The 10M number is not going to grow much, in fact it will probably shrink. There's only so many people interested in B-movies and last season's TV shows.

i don't think you've spent much time with their streaming, or you're in canada.

if you limit yourself to shit action movies and shit sci-fi--then yeah--there isn't much on netflix streaming.

But they offer a lot of great content, surprisingly good, actually--but if you have the taste of a 12 year-old teenage boy, you might likely never find it.

(unless you're a 12 year-old boy that's into jap cartoons--b/c there is a crapton of that bullshit on there)

So what alternatives are there for people who like the mail order service and the huge catalogue, but don't want to give Qwickster any money? How is Blockbuster's mail order service? I go to Redbox often but there are plenty of catalog releases that are on my list of movies to see.

Blockbuster endorses censorship, so no one should support them, ever.

what is the problem with Qwikster? It's the same company, same service, different name? you changing just b/c of the horrible name?

now that they are offering games, I might actually just reduce to one DVD (from 2), and try it out for a few months before I decide.

I just want my content. If it's two companies, fine. If it's just streaming, but they offer 1080p + lossless audio + new releases, even better. I'd pay more, hell I'd pay 30 or 40 a month to get everything I want on streaming.

What I'm not ok with is continuing to pay for streaming if they are losing content, or streaming as it is now with no dvds (if they sell it off).

not possible over streaming. maybe, maybe in South Korea, today...but doubtful.

or rather, it may be advertised as "1080p," but you'll get a bitrate of 1 mbps

(lol--not sure if that can actually carry 1080p, but whatever)

This, i might actually try it if only for the games. I just dont have the time to dedicate to games like i used to, renting it for a month or two then switching to a different one might be best. (and cheaper then buying)

I don't get where all of the whining is coming from, either.

It was way too cheap to go on forever. Entitlement mentality FTL.

x1000.

this is the only thing going on here.

If one didn't see how this would end up the day they unfurled the original streaming service, then one has shit for brains.
