They lost the Sony and Disney content recently. Plus things come and go from the service all the time. I'm not keeping precise tabs. I just know there's nothing worth a damn on there to justify $8/m.

Why do people keep thinking that everyone does (or should) like what they like?

I watch something I enjoy on Netflix streaming every night. I get more than my money's worth.

Nobody is denying that. I'm sure you do like what's on there. But to pay $8/m to see "2012: Ice Age" and "Ip Man" in the top action films is folly for the vast majority.

So you do not like how they rank and categorize their movies?

You have come to a conclusion and am trying to justify it (and failing). Let it go.

I get almost tight in my loins reading from people who keep defending the streaming content of Netflix, as if it's great and only people who have poor taste don't appreciate that and wow what a great deal for $9. Keep it up, folks. Good fun.

The rest of us know its streaming content sucks. Netflix is facing down a barrel of a gun now, it's unclear how they'll get through the next few years.

Today their stock down 9.54%. That is a huge hit. I think their CEO should be removed, he's obviously fvcked things up in the past few months. Only by sacrificing one of their own can Netflix appease the blood thirst of the angry public hehe

define "sucks."

meanwhile, I'll continue to assume you have the brainless tastes of simpleton teenage boy.

But truth is it's been getting worse. Losing Starz is going to stripmine the library of any current titles. The stock is tanking for more than one reason. 10M people @ $8 a month is only $80M/year in revenue. Starz alone walked away from a $200/M deal. Where is this money going to come from to obtain content?

well, that should actually help your "sucky content" assertion.

because the Starz content was the absolute suckiest of the bunch.

If you use the iPad app they showcase the best content on top. Go to the Action category and the first three are promising then...

Can you defend that assortment with a straight face? Seriously?

Do you mean, can I defend how they rank and categorize their movies?

Why do I need to do that?

MotionMan

Can you find any better Action movies on their entire site than Iron Man 2 and The Expendables? I can't. My problem is the content, not the categorization.

Define "better". Do you mean as would be liked by my wife, my daughter, my son, my mom or my dad?

Again, people are assuming that everyone does (or should) like the same things they do.

We know your family likes B-movies. Good for them. The rest of America is not going to toss away $8 a month to see crap like The Last Airbender and The Spy Next Door most of which will disappear with the Starz deal either way.

These are the Adventure ones from just the 1st page on the website that I like:

Deep Blue Sea
The Towering Inferno
Omega Man
The Taking of Pelham 123 (the original)
Diamonds are Forever
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Gotcha!
Smokey and the Bandit
Streets of Fire
Big Trouble in Little China
Thunderball

That seems like a good start. And that is just movies and just from one category.

Ip Man is better than both of those.

So is Iron Man--Iron Man 2 sucked ass.

Ip Man is the best action movie that I've seen in the last 5 or so years....and that's because most action movies are complete garbage.

And its picture quality is gawdawful.

I won't miss it.

YES. that is my main gripe with the Starz content. At first, there was a little starz logo in the corner of the box art when browsing, so it was easy to avoid.

then, they doubled their Starz offerings and removed that logo. so when you click on the box, then the Starz splash screen pops up, I have to exit out. That wasted 3 seconds of my time!

yeah, you seem stuck on worthless genres that offer 90% garbage anyway, if you keep complaining about the same types of movies.

expand your horizons, bro.

why bother with any sort of streaming or rental service if you only like dumb action or sci fi movies?

All kidding aside I love the Twilight Zone catalog on Netflix and some of the Indie films, but still not enough to get me to cough up $8/m. Not even close.

I think his point is that a majority of Americans have similar tastes and he's vigorously defending their unfulfilled rights to stream Hollywood's "finest". :D
