She looks kind of old. ;(

All right, she's 23 but doesn't look it in the pics. I realize that but I'm not going to post a bigger pic for the same reason a lot of people here don't post pics of their g/f's. She is not 'hot', she is extremely cute. I don't look at women the way most guys do, I'd rather have an incredibly smart, sweet, and beautiful g/f that I get along well with than one that's hot. So far I haven't found one that's both. There's probably a reason for that.

As for the guy who said to get her another b/f if I'm not looking to get laid, I respectfully request that you don't post things like that. Neither of us believes in sex before marriage, therefore it is not a factor. I respect your beliefs whatever they may be, please respect mine.

Anyway, we're going out to dinner tonight with both my and her parents, I thought it would help us get to know each other better to know the families.

RKS, you have a lot of good ideas. I intend to take her on a riverboat ride eventually, but she isn't big on spending money and doesn't like it when I pay for her stuff on dates, so I'm not sure that would work out so well right now. We want to go to the aquarium but we've had to go out so late the last 3 times that it's closed by the time we get there (she works three 3rd-shift nights a week so it's hard to plan a date during the day).

wtf is this? you guys getting married?

This is my effort to get to know her better. She said she wants to know me better and so I wracked my brains trying to figure out how one gets to know one better, and one of the best ways is to meet their family and friends. You all have some great ideas and I plan to use them in the future.

yours and hers parents don't think this is a bit weird?

No, actually my parents really want to meet her. If she thought it was a bad idea we wouldn't be doing it.

If you want a restaurant co, there is a new bravo in mason, i think. Fancy atmosphere and pretty good Italian. Reds game could be fun...good chance to talk

Totally played out by the "I like to pretend that I'm cultured" crowd.

My girlfriend dragged me into a coffee shop once, it was pathetic. A bunch of ultra-liberal pansies trying to sport the "world traveler" look, talking about subjects that they're clueless about.

It struck me as just being a cheap fascade.

WTF kind of coffee shop are you going to? every coffee house that i've seen is extremely chill. there's certainly no dress code, fake facade, or liberal pretense.

maybe you can't handle a place that doesn't have 12-point buck heads mounted all over the walls?

clearly you've won the dumbest post in this thread award. congrats.

We went to a Starbucks after minigolf. It was completely deserted at 11pm and I thought it was boring. Nothing to stimulate conversation. I had to keep thinking things up which isn't any fun.

its about time you got drunk. take her to a nice lounge in a downtown area with good people watching.

So for your 4th date, you are taking a "cute" woman who you cannot hold a stimulating conversation with out to dinner. Oh, and both of your parents are joining you.

You do know what happens when your parents meet her parents, right? Basically, your mom will find something she doesn't like about her parents and start pressuring you to break it off, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with the woman you are dating (or vice-versa). Parents should meet on your wedding day.

Why don't you just break it off and save everyone the headache.

OP - Don't listen to the people here. She looks very attractive/classy.

I like the idea of bowling, or something casual like a picnic.

GL.

Well aren't we pessimistic.

My parents wouldn't pressure me to break it off, they just wouldn't. My parents can get along with anyone and I'm quite confident they'll like her parents just fine.

I didn't say I couldn't hold a stimulating conversation, I said it was boring at the coffee shop. We've had hours of conversation just sitting on the river or waiting for our turn at minigolf.

Bowling?

Ah, good one. I'm no good but it might be fun. I beat her at minigolf though so it's only fair.
Have a Big Lebowski night. Go bowling and drink white russians, then go back to one of your places and continue drinking white russians while watching the movie.

edit: oops didn't see you guys didn't drink....hmmm....

BOLD, but definitely not SMOOTH, my man.

My parents would want to meet a girl I would go out on a date with the very first moment they find out, but that would not happen. I would introduce her on my own time, or if the girl was comfortable with it.

I love my folks, but they meddle too much.

There is nothing wrong with being a momma's boy, but there is definitely a fine line between "whooped" and momma's boy.

No drinking, just hanging out with their parents. These kids know how to have a good time!

Seriously, do you guys share any common interests (aside from no sex, no drinking). Something that you both enjoy and can go do together, whether it is hiking, road tripping, or just hanging out and listening to music.

The parents thing on the fourth date is still blowing my mind. Have you even been dating a month yet?

I've gone out with a girl 3 times now and we get along really well and she's said she likes me really well but wants to get to know me better. The first date was a to a movie (I know, not ideal but she really wanted to see the movie), second was supposed to be ice skating (an idea I got from another thread here) but it was closed so we played minigolf, the third we sat on the river for a couple hours. I'm trying to think of somewhere that won't get boring but won't occupy too much of our time. Dinner would be ok but it's so standard and no fun.

I know you guys have some good ideas, I've seen a few of them. I just keep drawing blanks on this.

I live in Cincinnati. I'm 21, she's 23.

Thanks in advance.

pic

pic2

that 2nd pic she looks like Nicole Richie (Too Skinny)?

but not bad for a 43 year old!

LOL, was it Red's girlfriend who everyone thought was his mom?

Yeah, I don't think he ever lived that down on these boards 😀

I am not doing this because my parents want to meet her. I'm doing it so we can get to know each other better. I'm not whipped, just listening to what she wants. She thinks it's a great idea, everyone wants to meet everyone else, there are no apparent drawbacks.

My parents don't control my relationships but I do respect their advice because they've never steered me wrong and always have my interests at heart.

I think everyone's looking at this the wrong way. It's not like i'm proposing tomorrow. Does anyone disagree that meeting one's family and friends gives you a better understanding of the person?

Well some of the most fun i have had in cinci was to reds (or bengals) game, Cinci Zoo is a blast, walking around the levee in newport, isnt that fireworks thing coming up soon? make a day out of it, kings island if you are imature like myself, go hiking down in kentucky near the red river gorge.....

Hope one of those suggestions help.

Definitely. But if you take things too fast and not guard your emotions, you could be jumping into a commitment neither of you are ready for which can end badly with the relationship.

Usually meeting your folks will cause this because having the parents meet and you meeting her parents means in their heads that this relationship is going to the next level. Meaning that they will more than likely meddle and view her as your possible future wife.

Take things too fast and chances are your relationship will go too fast for one or both of you. Guard your heart, dude. Relationships take time.

the key word in your post is (and should be) "relationship". introduction of the parents is done after the relationship is established, not as part of the audition process. do you really need 6 people involved by the 4th date?

but hey, maybe the rules are different if you're straightedge and don't believe in premarital secks.

Hey, I don't believe in premarital sex and I am pretty "straight edged" myself, but I even think this is a bad idea.
