That's Navy Seals for you!! Hoo-ahh! A couple of guys got the MOH for doing this same thing in Vietnam (A medic comes to mind who jumped on one to save the 3 patients he was treating on the battle field under fire), so along with his previous SS he should get it. RIP!

Why don't you learn how difficult being a sniper actually is instead of relying on Counterstrike for your knowledge about warfare? Guys trained as snipers can hit targets at 1000 yards and longer if they're using the right weapon.

Incidentally, the military no longer uses flamethrowers because they aren't terribly effective. We use thermobaric weapons to clear out caves and holes -- much more effective to burst their lungs than to cook them.

If this poor guy hadn't been brainwashed by religion to think he was getting a reward for dying, and brainwashed by a culture that calls killers heroes, maybe he would have stood up for what was right and not fought.

Canadian sniper holds the record kill at 2657 yards in 2003. That was with a McMillan Tac-50.

BTW, this is a person i could only wish to be as brave as. He is a hero, a gentlemen, and a obviously awesome person. I hope he is awarded the highest honor he can recieve for his sacrifice.

I got to hear a speaker that was in Vietnam and he did the same thing. However he lived through it.

He was awarded the Medal of Honor.

He was invited to speak to us at Offutt AFB in Nebraska.

RIP, this is a shining example of the courage of our heroes fighting for our freedom far from home, and also the freedom of others. Unfortunately, far too many do not appreciate their sacrifice and what it means.

Pretty sad commentary on the press corps, isn't it? There are plenty of examples of courage in Iraq every day, and the partisan liberal reporters and editors won't put it in their papers -- such a stark contrast to WWII, for instance.

My guess is he'll get the Navy Cross, simply for the fact that the incident only involved a few men. But, he could get the MOH.
