You don't need to buy juiceplus to get good fruits and veggies, everybody needs good nutrition, the grocery store has all that.

There are plenty of juice products at the grocery store.
I hear all those things are just PACKED with antioxidants, too. :hmm:

It's almost like your "product" is 90% marketing and 10% science. :hmm:

I've yet to see anything which says he's part of the company. Did I miss it?

Thread gets posted about Protandim.

FrankR registers after that post.

FrankR posts almost exclusively in Protandim thread.

FrankR posts nothing but pro-Protandim material.

FrankR links only to one government website and to another website ( http://www.studynrf2.com/ ) which is an affiliate site for selling Protandim. If FrankR was legitimately promoting Protandim, why does he insist on linking to a site that will make someone (him) money? Why not link to http://www.protandim.com/ ?

There's no smoking gun, but this is classic internet MLM marketing at its worst. Look at just about any topic on an MLM product and you'll see the same pattern. People talking about it, new member registers and posts tons of positive things, etc, etc.

This type of marketing is also illegal now, but that's another story for another time.

She should look into the "Fruits and Vegetables, Inc" system. I hear it's amazing, but you have to get "in" with the Kroger Mafia.

well, obviously. unfortunately, not enough people put much stock into that kind of thinking, though. also, the supplement is actually, unfortunately, more cost effective than fresh fruits and veggies but yield the same benefits. i say unfortunately because i'd love to see america get back on track with feeling full after a meal filled with vegetables and snacking on fruits. the supplement can't exactly make anyone full or give full nutrition the way a meal can.

the nice thing about juice plus is that most people who start taking them start gravitating towards eating more fruits and veggies in their daily lives.

anyways, enough promotion of the product. no, i'm not trying to sell it to anyone here. just saying that the op's mom is wasting her money. i only posted the link so the op could read up on some of the research.

Oh, c'mon. I can't remember the last time I opened Power Supplies over the babe thread in L&R.

I don't care what you remember. The reason you most likely came here in the first place was because you had some hardware related issue.

People don't just stumble into anandtech, it just doesn't work that way.

If you don't like your liver. The same skepticism you give Protandim just because its MLM, if you applied equally and logically would assume that all pharmaceutical drugs peddled by doctors on commission (and they are), are also at fault.
Right. Except that with some glorious exceptions, real drugs work. The bloat in the pharm industry and the obnoxious drug reps throwing steak lunches at the docs is a separate issue here.

ALL PRODUCTS are 90% marketing.

Show me a supplement on the market with 8 peer reviewed and published research articles... (no matter the source or funding).

You won't find one. So while Protandim is a lot of marketing (via MLM), it carries more science than anything I've seen that was not an FDA drug (and no Protandim doesn't meet that standard)

Did I miss the part where you told us how much you make?

Are your wives in on this too? That would be pretty sweet.

Actually, it was more for the overwhelming intellect and stimulating conversation.

Oh look, several thousands of peer reviewed supplements that are proven to work.. Imagine that. (Woops, guess you didn't want to be called out on that).

I could go on you know, copper, zinc, Vitamin A. Yep, there are tons of supplements out there with more then 8 measly peer reviews.

Real drugs do work, and they also come with strong side effects, and often a BIG price tag.

Speaking of which, did you rationalize the 600% (or more) markup on the raw materials in your wonder compound?

They have a special purifying process that nobody else has figured out. It is patent pending!

I said PRODUCT. And you didn't show me a product you showed me a vitamin.

You said SUPPLEMENT, dumb ass.

Supplements are just that, supplements. Some of them have proven benefits. (such as vitimin A/C supplements).

Oh, I found the smoking gun. No surprise.

FrankR was stupid enough to link his vCard in his profile (thanks Fausto), which conveniently includes his email address.

It happens to be: jalundgren@gmail.com

Which just so happens to be the same as Jeff Lundgren, whose profile you can view here:

http://www.mlmsocial.com/profile.php?user=lundgren&v=comments

Jeff's job description: "I am an MLM Distributor"
One of Jeff's many websites: http://www.studynrf2.com/

Which is the website FrankR has been linking to over and over again.

(Vcard for proof: http://forums.anandtech.com/member.php?do=vcard&u=295976)

You are a moron. If I had to make my own protandim with the same ingredients it would cost me around $15, because I've looked. By the time I shipped each, spent time blending it, it would cost me about $40 anyway in time and resource.

If the protandim company buys in bulk and makes money off it, SO WHAT!

When you buy a drug your doctor gives you, GUESS WHAT, MORON, THEY'RE MAKING A KILLING OF YOU.

Or are you the guy who make your own clothing, grows your own food etc. Likely you did not.

When you buy a vitamin from GNC, and you spend $10, I bet it only costs the company who made it $1. But they sold it to GNC, they advertised it, and everybody's getting a piece of the pie, its how the economy works.

Okay, "Frank" I gotta go get on with the rest of my day. As soon as my Enzyte kicks in I plan to split some firewood and get the neighbor's cat out of the tree. Then I'll drive home at a cool 100mpg thanks to my patented VORTEX fuel savings device.

Have a good one. :)
