There are a number of supplements and herbal remedies that Western medicine shuns because of our pharmaceutical companies. Just because the FDA hasn't done clinical studies doesn't make it crap.

Frank posted reasonable 3rd party links (.gov) with archives of articles done by 3rd party researchers. He doesn't deserve to be bashed, and he certainly doesn't deserve to be banned. I've been in this community a long time and everyone's reactions to this guy are way off base.

That isn't the point. His supplement could be the second coming of penicillin. The point is that he's shilling for his own product and won't admit it. That has nothing to do with the evidence for (or against) his product, it has to do with being deceptive.

Oh and Frank, I hope you know that what you're doing is against FTC guidelines on marketing these days. Faking testimonials or not clearly declaring your relationship to the product you're selling is now against their regulations and can open you, and your company, up to large penalties.

she needs to stop wasting her money on that and start spending it on supplements that have been proven to be effective.

yes, it's a pyramid scheme kind of deal here too, but the product has a ton of research backing it up.

You got me. I actually work for one of the pharma companies that has spent years trying to keep Protandim off the market. We can't have such a vital and amazing supplement out there cannibalizating our sales of lead-filled sugar prescription medication. We make too much money! Several years ago we all got together and realized that this "internet" thing was going to present a real problem for us. After all, consumers like yourself could now try new supplements, do research, and share data without our involvement. Obviously, this wasn't acceptable. In order to counteract such grassroots movements, we split up the world's forums and each created "sleeper" accounts on them, posing as normal Joes until the time came to spring into action.

FrankR, I've been waiting a long, long time for you to come here and try and spread your propaganda. I'm here to undermine every study you post, seed doubt in the mind of your potential customers, and destroy your brand.

Or... you know, I'm just a normal guy who posts here and hates it when obvious scammers like yourself come along.

Sounds like a productive way to approach society, with the destruction of others at all cost, enjoy your wonderful life.

Do you buy coffee? You spend $4 on a 12oz thing of coffee that costs Starbucks 50 cents.

Does that mean Starbucks is a bad value?
Coffee being good or bad is subjective. Furthermore, they are not claiming their product has any benefits beyond tasting good with a croissant.

So how much do you make? I'm kinda getting tired of asking. It's almost like you're being evasive as it the answer would make you look bad. :)

I've yet to see anything which says he's part of the company. Did I miss it?

I don't work for the protandim company.

How much do you make spending time trying to prove protandim is a scam? Do you work for Juice Plus or MonaVie? Maybe your a shill for another product? I think so.

You ARE a distributor. How is that not working for the company?

...and I don't have to spend any time proving anything. I already linked everything we really need to know debunking your "product". Go find a board filled with gullible middle-aged women, you'll have better luck at the expense of your conscience.

FAIL

Each post gets you paid $20? Sound familier? If it was so fantastic I think my doctor would have known about this stuff. I think I trust somebody NOT getting kickbacks for drugs over somebody who is paid to advertise it.

$20, eh?

I TOO HAVE USED PROTAMDEN FOR OVER 60 YEARS AND AM PERSONALLY FEELING YOUNGER THAN EVER. I LOOK FORWARD TO CELEBRATING MY 114TH BIRTHDAY THIS SEPTEMBER, AND URGE YOU TO BUY FROM <insert web address here> AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

Now - where's my check? :sneaky:

And we all know "peer reviewed" doesn't necessarily mean shit. Data can be massaged and manipulated. Doubly so if the "researcher" has a direct financial stake in the outcome of the study.

See also: Vaccines and Autism.

Other than the one study that started the whole stupid scare. There was never another study that showed a link between Vaccines and Autism. Hopefully people don't still believe that myth. It was probably one of the more damaging myths to public health.

Just sayin'.

My point still stands. Data can be manipulated for a variety of reasons. Financial gain is a pretty obvious one.

I think you have to spell it right for the bots to pick it up and cut you a check.

*taps sarcasm meter*

no sarcasm. being serious. if she's into taking supplements rather than eating healthy and living right, she should be taking juice plus.

the only shameful thing is that it's a mlm, but the product is fantastic... kinda like cutco knives.

Which is true for every billion dollar 'drug' FDA approved and released to market.

She should look into the "Fruits and Vegetables, Inc" system. I hear it's amazing, but you have to get "in" with the Kroger Mafia.

Oh yeah, and I certainly agree with that statement. I'm just saying that the Vaccine/Autism thing might not have been the best example of it. (especially since the goon that started the movement was trying to sell his own vaccine).

I find it pretty suspicious that the very first and only thread in a primarily hardware based community that FrankR posts is to defend some random product. It is pretty obvious that he is probably selling the stuff.

Oh, c'mon. I can't remember the last time I opened Power Supplies over the babe thread in L&R.

You don't need to buy juiceplus to get good fruits and veggies, everybody needs good nutrition, the grocery store has all that.

There are plenty of juice products at the grocery store.

I don't know. Does the statin actually work?

If you don't like your liver. The same skepticism you give Protandim just because its MLM, if you applied equally and logically would assume that all pharmaceutical drugs peddled by doctors on commission (and they are), are also at fault.

Could it be true that Lipitor is harming you more than helping while big CEO's make off with your money? Sure.
