How? By not providing a tip?

By providing one that you know will not be paid.

It's no different than buying something with a check that you know will bounce.

People go to prison for that :)

I don't care how much effort it takes, it's the right thing to do. You know, personal responsibility and all.

At least I'm not such a lowlife that I'm willfully defrauding my community.

So, you get protected but you don't care about the merchants who are defrauded?

That's not my responsibility to fix. There are other people like the bank, the merchant, and the authorities who are responsible for taking care of that.

Really? So I should go to prison because of bank policy? If I have a bill of $100 and I give an extra $100 tip and there is $200 in my account but the bank only gives out $100, is it my fault? Is it unethical? Perhaps? Illegal? Certainly not. What is illegal is having me wait 20 minutes for my meal and forgetting my glass of wine.

Oh, so you don't care so long as you're taken cared of? I see you'd make a great politician. A poor leader but a great politician.

You should be arrested because you are willfully defrauding someone else.

Period.

It depends. If you make your tip obscene, the bank will reject it outright.

I went to this restaurant once(http://www.mandarinoriental.com/newyork/dining/asiate/) and the bank simply refused to honor the $100 tip (out of $500).

20% isn't an obscene tip. However a transaction that large can definitely raise a fraud alert on your card when 20% is tacked on after the fact. I can see why the bank would do that in this case... but I seriously doubt it's standard practice across the board with your bank.

What does it matter if I care or not? Care is not the law. Of course I care, I want to see my community thrive and I want to see shitbags like you behind bars.

However, there are professionals who are trained and deputized to carry out that end of the spectrum. I am not.

Actually, task delegation to appropriately trained team members is an absolute must for leadership.

OK. Come and arrest me, Officer Nik. Take me to your ivory tower where I will be judged by waiters and waitresses past and present. Hang me by the washcloth and stick a fork in me. I'm done.

I'd rather just find your name, your city, your bank, print out this thread, and fax a copy to the city authorities and to your bank.

What's your name? :)

Well, my point is why put all these things in motion? It's better to have a system like my bank has rather than cause headaches for everyone down the road.

The system your bank has allows for people like you to defraud the community.

Really? Those are two completely different things. I think you're confusing the fact that you and I were actually having two separate conversations. Such is the power of the internets.

See? You know that what you're doing is illegal and wouldn't dream of giving out your real information.

That is my real name. The rest you'll just have to figure out, Inspector Clouseau.

Yes, two different conversations, but you're just playing devil's advocate in an effort to remove the spotlight from your illicit activities.

It's not really a surprise that you're a habitual liar.

No, your given name. Address would be nice too.

I bet they would. ():)

I guess I'll play by your rules, though, and mock you at the same time:
