I've never shot anyone and I hope I never have to shoot anyone. If someone puts me in a situation where I need to make that decision I will do it without hesitation though.

BTW-I've owned guns for over 14 years now and I've somehow managed to avoid shooting myself or any of my loved ones...must be a fvcking miracle I guess.
Maybe after another 14 years or so you will realize that you don't actually NEED a gun. Oh, wait... you HAVE to have one because your constitution allows it. n/m

True, no one needs a gun. Not one person will suddenly stop breathing if they don't possess a firearm. You also don't need money, clothes, a house, a car, etc. Also please don't attempt to equate age with firearm opinions...I know a LOT more older people with guns than I do young people.
Come on, man. You're equating carrying a firearm to all that stuff... you're just being silly :D SILLY GOOSE!
Otherwise, you think it's cool to have a bunch of poor naked homeless people with no means of transportation hanging around? :p

BTW, just wanted to say that I too think storing in the glove box is generally a bad idea. Necessary sometimes, but a poor choice. There are a number of consol mount vaults and underseat lockboxes that work great however. Invest in these for everyones safety.

 It makes a point though. Seriously, I'd give up anything except maybe my house before I give up my guns. I can wrap myself in a blanket, ride my bike around town, and barter for what else I need.

So many liberal Americans whine about things like the Patriot Act trampling their constitutional rights, but as soon as getting rid of the second amendment comes up in conversation then that's fine.

Exactly. If you want to get rid of the 2nd, then you should have to deal with getting rid of every other right you have as well. The 2nd is every bit as important as all the other amendments.

I am with him. My firearms are worth more to me than most anything else, including the lives of those who would take them away from me.

i am actually an ANTI gun-person deep down, but it doesnt change the fact that the world we live in is pretty f***d up.

Right now i live in a pretty bad neighbourhood w/ my girlfriend...with people who look like gang-bangers and act like dealers as neighbours...which constantly are outside, walking back and forth and BLATANLTY stare minutes into our apt and look what we're doing. Needless to mention we have stuff like computers, TVs etc. here and all the apt have BIG glass-windows.

A few weeks ago some f****s broke open our as well as other cars on the parking lot and stole the car radio.

I would feel a bit safer if i had a gun somewhere quick in reach. Dunno.

If I'm angry with a gun in my glove compartment I would like to think that things would not get out of hand, I wouldn't trust myself having a gun in my car. You do irrational stuff when you're pissed off behind the wheel.

If you get pissed off enough to to irrational stuff behind the wheel of a car then you have no business driving in the first place.

...Right...

protection shouldn't be thrown in there as a reason to own a gun.

not to mention hunting... or sport.

Do you think it's unreasonable to keep a pistol in your glove compartment? I've always considering owning a few guns of my own but it seems like my dad would look down upon that...

There's a 357 in my glovebox in case someone does something stupid. I find it's pretty good peace of mind.

Both PAB and goku think that it's a good idea to have a gun in their glovebox. I have never heard of a more compelling argument toward the stupidity of a viewpoint.

/thread.

Fine, tell me why it ISN'T a good idea to have one in your glove box?

Take one tire iron. Apply to passenger window. Apply to glove box. Owner of vehicle now lacks firearm. Crook profits.

IF you want to carry a firearm in your car get a freaking gun safe and bolt the box to the frame on the passenger side of the car. Unlock gunsafe when driving.

Also if your state requires it get a carry permit.

Ahh, projection. I love it!

You admit because you are incapable of rational thought that therefore others must be as well. You assume because you cannot be trusted with a gun that therefore others must not be trusted with a gun.

Thats always my favorite argument. It boils down to "Well, if *I* was pissed I'd shoot someone! So, you shouldnt have a gun because if you get pissed you might shoot someone!"

No, thank you. I have enough maturity and common sense not to act childish and irrational as much as you might like to think otherwise.

3rded, and been there.
I lived out of my car with a trunk full of clothes, my CD's, couple books and the TV in the back seat.
And still had my SKS.

And gee, even when I was at the bottom of the barrel I never robbed anyone or shot anyone. Imagine that.

Geez you gun nuts are the same. The 2nd does NOT protect an individual right to own a gun. The Supreme Court has ruled plenty of times that it is ok for the government to restrict gun ownership on those that have never been felons or any other legal way to strip rights away.
Go read some court papers and you could see that. But this is Off Topic. Take it to P&N with the rest of the whack jobs.

And if you need a gun for protection, I guess that says more about you and the place you live. As I live somewhere where I don?t need a gun and sleep just fine.

The 2nd does NOT protect an individual right to own a gun.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I'm hardy a gun nut. I own a rifle that I shoot at the range and a shotgun that I shot clay pigeons with from time to time.

Be serious, they intended people to be able to own a gun so they could form militias and protect themselves from invasion, do we need to do that in our present time? No.

The constitution can be changed for a reason, times change.
