Heres an idea, if you want to be independent..........MOVE OUT. You obviously dont want to be there, you have your own money so go get your own place. Being independent and helping someone out is different. You need to wake up to reality.

I could move out but I would have to get probably 2 other jobs which wouldn't allow me to continue my education.

And said education is paid for by whom?

By me since currently I am only taking one class and working part time.

You only take 1 class and moving out wouldn't allow you to "continue your education"?!?

Its not just any class, its a math class and I get about 6 hours of homework a week. Put that on top of my work and that is close to 40 hours a week or close to a full time job. I would have to work probably 60 hours a week to support myself so that would mean I wouldn't be able to take ANY classes.

How in the HELL would it take you 60 hours a week working to support yourself if you got a small one room apartment? Your run down car get 1 mile to the gallon or what? Eat at $100 fancy diners every night?

Ok, I don't have a college degree yet, not very much work experience and the job market is pretty tight right now. So just think about what kind of jobs I could get. Not very good ones.

Hmm.... well lets see. I don't have a degree yet. So I sucked it up and worked at McDonalds at grill, AND at a Church as a custodian over the summer.

Then I did dishwashing for work study.

MANY people, taking FULL school loads, get these kinds of jobs and live by themselves. They work, get their degree, and move onto better things. Completely independent of their parents.

This summer I am taking Calculus 3. Next semester I am taking differential equations, linear algebra and discrete functions all at the same time. You can imagine how many hours of homework I am going to have. As for working over the summer? Forget it, the summer courses are too intense.

You have got to be joking.

My current roomate is taking 3 higher level math courses, and an Engineering course, plus working a job this quarter.

Oh, and just to add this in here.

My Dad took 22 credits, got STRAIGHT A's, worked over 40 hours a week, and took care of me (a small baby) and my Mom.

Yeah well he is a genius and I'm not, ok? It takes me a lot of time to work through the problems. Heck I spent 5 hours on one problem only to realize right before I turned in my homework an extremely simple way of solving it that I completely overlooked because I was blinded by the topic of the section that the problem fell in. Next semester I'll be lucky if I am not putting in 16 hours a day on math!

You're so full of sh!t. I'm taking 2 classes, one of which is a calculus class, and working 40 hours a week, and living in my own place.

I'm surprise you're even able to feed yourself.

Then again...maybe you're not?

OMFG.......

I wish my problems were as significant as FBI's but
right now the only problem I have is trying to get through
this thread without wanting to bitch slap this spoiled brat.

FBI: stop your damn bitchin' and moanin' and just think about
somebody other than yourself for once.

Calc 2.

Yeah well you probably have a much better job than I do.

I might, I don't know what youdo (didn't see it posted), but the fact remains that taking a single calc class doesn't preclude you from being able to support yourself.

Yeah well what about next semester when I am taking 3 post Calculus math courses at the same time?

You make sacrifices. Only work 30 hours, or only take 2 classes, or let your dad drive your car for a day, whatever.

Well, guess you'll fail then.

You better start practicing saying "Would you like fries with that?"

I'm really having a hard time believing this guy is actually serious. This is your dad you're talking about. What the hell is the matter with you? And you're embarrased that you have to drive around a blue van tomorrow? Many students don't even have cars. Jesus.

Don't see why your dad taking your car makes you mad.

A. He is putting 140 miles on my engine.

B. I have to drive around town in a god damn minivan tomorrow.

a. seeing as how if you bought a good car you could put 2000 times that amount of mile who cares

b. will people care what you drive for one day? no. so again who cares

No kidding. Hell, I remember one semester I had 17 credit hours, a full time job and was suporting my wife and 2 kids.

I have pretty much zero sympathy for this asshat.

Dude, quit your whining
rolleye.gif

Your parents paid 2/3s of the car, he'll probably drive those 140 miles better than you've driven ALL the miles you've put on that car, plus, he's offered you money to borrow it for ONE day.

Jeez dude, you really do have some problems if you're getting so worked up about this! Maybe YOU shouldn't drive your car at all, because for every 140 miles you put on it, it'll cost you $500 in repair bills, so you better quit using that car :disgust:

Please confirm that you're just kidding about this. I don't want to think "There's that ungrateful spoiled kid" every time I see one of your posts in the future.
