Gerry is one I keep meaning to watch as it sounds like something I'd love.

I found Elephant to be Gus Van Sant's best work.

It got mediocre reviews. 54% at Rotten Tomatoes, which means "rotten".
I just remember in the theatre when I saw it, for the arena fight scene, only my bud and I were laughing. I dunno, but maybe the rest of the audience just didn't really get the joke, since it was referencing the original 1960s Star Trek, in a somewhat oblique way too.

Well, a lot of the big critics hated it, but overall it got middling reviews. No, The Cable Guy was destroyed when it came out. Everyone crapped on it relentlessly.
It was panned when it came out, yes. But I think it is a cult classic now? I liked it when I saw it in the theaters. The luggage thing was a homage to It's a Wonderful Life, I think.Joe vs the Volcano

My fellow audience members didn't seem to enjoy it though.
I don't mind the new Star Wars. Just rewatched them recently. Definitely plenty of WTF moments, but the lightsaber fights are far better than the older movies.
I still say Dude Where's My Car is a funny movie with some originality.
if you're in "the right mindframe" then I'd imagine Dude Where's My Car is pretty funny.

I like this topic, but am not remembering titles I'd like to list.
One I'll mention is that sometimes people disagree with how great a movie I think Planet of the Apes was (the original).
Another I think was amazing is Amalie, though I can't get anyone who has even seen it.

3. No movie to date has captured the same suspense & creepiness that Mothman Prophecies did. Slashers don't make a scary movie. This thriller kept me up at night without showing a single drop of blood.
