Just sold the last bike - DR350 that I titled and converted to the street. When I found out Indiana allowed me to do this I went crazy!!! At one time I had a Transalp, GSXR 750 from 92, KLR-650 with heavy bags, and a RZ350.

After a bad crash about 12 years ago my riding slowly dropped to almost nothing. Feel lucky to be alive to this day.

I still kept the Vespa 200 though...

Some states are very restrictive in titling dirt bikes and some are super easy. In Michigan for example, you need lights, mirror, horn and dot tires for inspection. Get those and you can have your 2 stroke on the street in no time.

Don't be a hater Jules. Ducatis are the coolest bikes made, and that makes the guy's that ride them cool. It's a burden at times, grown men bow as we drive by, young women throw themselves at us, young boy's run around wearing red leather jackets pretending to ride Ducatis. Some of them even continue doing this into adulthood. That's why they call us Ducatisti.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Been riding bikes since I was 15 years old. Once you get the bug I figure it's a lifetime deal. Here's my bike

This is my third ninja. Had a zx9r and a zx6r before this. Had a couple cruisers but my heart was never into those kinds of bikes.

My only issue with with that minor edit is that Ducks are sport bikes, and while they are cool, they aren't V-Rod cool.

Not true at all. Ducati makes several great bikes that aren't sport bikes that have cult like followings.

What are the first and second Ducatis? They look frickin badass! Something I'd eventually like to get down the road.

Thank God.
Honda builds a good machine, lawn mowers to cars. But they fall flat whenever they try retro or art deco style. That thing is an embarrassment to a company as capable as Honda.

couldn't be farther (further?) from the truth IMO. the valkyrie rune is incredible.

^ The Rune is a crazy bike. I saw several in person and the build quality on that surpasses my V-Rod. It looks like something out of a science fiction movie. Too bad Honda doesn't make them anymore.

So I've potentially found a buyer for my Sky back home (and all the parts sitting around waiting to go in it :p ), I'm getting a new DD (starting to appreciate more doors + a trunk), and potentially a bike to replace the Sky as a weekend ride.

I know the "what bike should I start one" thread has been rehashed a million times, but I am a tad bit different than most people at 6'6 ~230lbs. I think a Ninja 250, which is ugly as sin btw, is probably a bit on the small side for me from a physical standpoint (plus I look goofy on sport bikes as big as I am). I have a hard on for naked bikes and will upgrade after I'm more comfortable to a Brutale, but I'd prefer not to lay that down. Any suggestions? SV maybe?

6 foot 6? You need one of those big adventure bikes that are like a tower. KTM, Honda Varadero, etc.

Ninja 650R or ER-6N maybe?

Coworker has an ER-6N... I have the 650R since I prefer the sportbike look. They may still be on the small side though since their low seat height is one of their selling points. They're parallel twins instead of inline 4s so they're a little more forgiving IMO for a beginner like myself. Ninja 250 wasn't an option for me because if you follow the break-in then top speed is like 45MPH in 6th gear... not practical (or safe) for an area where the speed limit is usually 55MPH. ;)

Best bet is probably just go to a dealership and sit on a few and see what fits.

Please don't put Harley and Honda in the same sentence together. Harley dreams of the day they could put together a bike worthy of the Honda name.

Actually, its worse. Manual says not to go above 4000 RPM during the first 600 miles. 4000 RPM in 6th gear on my 2009 250r is right around 36 MPH.

Break in was not fun for my 250r :).

lol? Did you even read what I said? Also, you must be some kind of moron by making a statement like that. You are comparing apples to oranges. Are you saying Honda cruisers are better than the Harley cruisers? Did you ever notice how much cheap plastic shit they have on them?

Did they ever do anything about the rake on the forks? It must be a pain getting that thing to turn. I like cutting edge equipment when I ride. Steel frames, raked front ends, low horsepower 800lb bikes just ain't gonna cut it.

Actually the bike is super nimble and easy to toss around turns. I have heard from a lot of people before buying the bike that turning might be an "issue", it was a lie, there is no issue.
