I'm not saying he "derailed" anything... I don't think that train ever came to the station.
But how can you say that what I stated isn't true? It's pretty indisputable that he said all those things, and then none of them happened, while he sat on the side lines and cheered congress on.
I think you need to pay attention to the post you originally defended.
Obama did engage in a televised discussion with the Repub HOR caucus, and whupped 'em so badly even they had the sense to decline further public humiliation... And the Executive simply can't dictate means and methods to the legislative branch, anyway, seeing as how they're co-equal...
Did Obama over-promise? Sure, but his failure to deliver wasn't intentional on his part, but rather on the part of Congress, particularly the 40 republican members of the Senate.
All of which is neither here nor there wrt the subject at hand, anyway.
I'd offer that the Bush Admin wasn't corrupt in the sense that they did anything illegal. Hell, their party had successfully labored for changes to the laws that made the most scurrilous conflicts of interest entirely legal, even before they took office.
And, quite frankly, if we can't recognize that going to war on false pretenses isn't some sort of corruption, there's not really much to talk about, because we're not even speaking the same language...
If cutting taxes at the same time, particularly for America's wealthiest, wasn't some sort of corruption, then we have the same problem...
If orchestrating the outing of a CIA operative isn't corrupt, then what is? How about packing the DoJ with Fundie lawyers from a third rate legal school- is that not corrupt? Dismissing Federal Attorneys because they wouldn't play ball on the fake issue of voter fraud?
There are a whole list of other such happenings, as well...
When it's all said and done, the Bush Admin wasn't just corrupt, they raised corruption to a whole new level...
