The whole thing for the easy fatalities boils down to one thing for me. I enjoyed knowing the moves in previous fighting games. Being able to pull off the fatality was icing on the cake. Kind of like a motocross winner doing a big whip on the last jump to show off or a fighter pilot doing a flyby. I feel the same about being able to pull a big combo to an ultra in killer instinct. Doing it with easy button combos would lessen the impact and make it feel worthless to me. I guess I just remember how many times I failed to do a fatality and how long it took me to master the button combo and distance from the opponent.
I have read many conflicting reports about the net ode and online play. Some people say it's smooth and some people think it's not that good. I dunno who to believe right now.
believe the people who say it's not good. they are the ones who know what they are talking about typically.
there are many people who think that mk9 and sf4 have "great" netcode. sf4 is definitely playable, don't get me wrong, but i've heard people say it's so good they can't tell they are playing someone online. that it's like playing someone in the same room as you.
that is just flat out false. some people simply aren't as succeptable to the input lag as others are. i know that before i had my 10ms input lag monitor that i gamed on, i didn't even know that my DLP had any lag on it. but now going back to it, it's incredible laggy.
i think that many people are just used to the crappy play online, so to them it's "great".
but after playing KI so much online, playing anything else is painful. hell even sf4 i pretty much don't play anymore because online is so bad now (compared to KI).
EDIT:
i also did read yesterday on neogaf, but this is just from 1 poster, that ign and another site (i think gamespot) were holding off on their reviews because there was a day1 netcode patch that was supposed to drop. not sure if there is any truth to it or not.
