BTW, you (or anyone else) ever heard of a book by Vince Flynn, called Term Limits? It is about a group of returning servicemen who got burned by loose lips in congress. That was the final straw in a series of things, anyway they decide that the enemy is in DC, and since they have sworn to protect the constitution, take matters into their own deadly hands.

It was written probably 20 years ago, and in many ways was a sign of things to come. This was his first major book, before he became popular with all of his top selling "Mitch Rapp" books.

Agreed. But Europe is the seat and origin of so much of our culture, it is also the genetic home for many of us in the west. I am not comfortable letting it go so easily, because if we do... within my lifetime I will watch on the news as the Muslims destroy all the great art, sculpture, and architecture of Europe for being "decadent idolatry" just like the Taliban did to the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan. We will also see European women in burkhas, and European homosexuals being killed en masse by these barbarians.

Time for my former fellow liberals (I just recently stopped identifying myself as one) to find their balls, and start standing up for the things they claim to cherish (women's rights, gay rights, religious freedom, personal freedom) because it's not white guys in West Virginia who represent the greatest threat to those things. It's Islam. Their politically correct touchy feely pussiness prevents them from seeing it or acknowledging it, and will right up until the moment they get trampled by it.

This cannot be allowed.

I always hate this debate, because the outrage comments are always super vague. What SPECIFICALLY should we be doing differently, and how would it help? Do we need to run around setting fire to falafel carts or what? If you're going to get pissed that we're not doing something, it would be helpful to actually say what you're talking about.

I also think there is a serious problem with this debate in terms of accepting the basic premise. It's not just that it's hard to understand what your solution is, I'm not at all sure I agree with you about the scope of the problem. Islam (radical or otherwise) doesn't seem at all like a credible existential threat to the US or the Western world in general. At least the red scare involved a country with nuclear weapons pointed at us, and even THAT seems overblown in retrospect.

It must just be my pansy liberalism, but I can come up with a LOT more examples of "white guys in West Virginia" threatening the values I believe in here at home than I can come up with Muslims doing the same thing. Maybe it has something to do with American Muslims having basically no power whatsoever and Christian conservatives having an enormous amount of influence and basically complete control over one of the two main political parties. 1.) Halt all immigration from third world, and all Muslim countries to any first world country. With emphasis on European countries in particular.

2.) Deport all Muslims back to home country, unless they are thoroughly westernized. (Such as most that you'd find in Michigan or Canada) I have no problem whatsoever with those type of Muslims, I wish they were more common. If they're first generation immigrant... gone. If they wear the burkha/hijab... gone. If their wife wears it, gone. If any woman in their family of equivalent or lower age wears it... gone.

3.) Cut all diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia.

4.) Withdraw all embassies, and official presence of any western or first world country from middle east.

5.) Start ignoring all sovereignty, or status as ally vs. non-ally and start using constant, unrelenting drone attacks on any site in any Muslim country which we have any reason to think is a terrorist training camp or similar site.

6.) Nuke Mecca.

The GOP controlled the house, senate, and POTUS for 4 straight years or 6 depending on your view of Jeffords... You can see what good that did our great Country.

Democrats, on the other hand, only had a 60 seat majority from September 24th, 2009 thru February 4th, 2010. That's 4 months!

Subtract the number of days Congress was not in session during that timeframe and Obama had a Democratic majority in Congress one full month less than that.

So why not stick to your failed endeavor of revising Bush's 8 years, some might have forgotten that by now! Your trying to reinvent the events pertaining to Kennedy, Frankin, Brown, Byrd, the word reconciliation and the actual makeup of the Senate those first 2 years is falling flat on it's drunk face!

Thankfully not everyone here relies on being willfully misinformed (I call it lying) about the makeup of the Senate during those 2 years and does not pretend that the dems had a filibuster proof majority for more than 73 days! (lot's of important legislation came up during that time, too!)
