I prefer MMORPGs that are difficult and dangerous. A game that when you walk out the city walls at night, you are seriously taking your life into your own hands...

A game with serious death penalties...

A game with realistic PvP...

A game in which leveling is very difficult and you spend quite a bit of time at each level and you actually feel like you've earned something when you level up...

A game where there aren't millions of magic items floating around. Where magic and magic-items are somewhat rare, expensive, and controlled...

A game where the economy is poor, like you are actually living in a harsh world of the dark ages...not an economy with gold flowing in the streets...

A game where the monsters are devious, unpredictable, and dangerous...

Sounds like Lineage II...

Me and a few friends have a weekly WOW game we play, but have gotten burned on it. Its gotten a little too repetitive and boring so we are looking for something else to play.

We have been thinking of either city of heroes or Dungeons and Dragons Online. I have played COH before and really liked it, but haven't played in a while (since before COV came out). I have no experience with DDO, but heard it started off pretty rocky.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just wondering if you picked a new MMO yet? My friends and I are in the same situation as you and we are also looking for a new game. It just seems like there is nothing out there that appeals to us. We all currently play COH / COV but that has been getting lame since it's been almost 2 years now. COH is pretty good with new releases, which add a bit more content here and there, but that only tides you over for so long, then it's back to the same grind. 🙁

COH might be a good choice for you, however, since they have added a lot more content since COV has been released. It might hold you over until something better comes along.

Maybe we will wait and see what Age of Conan is all about, it certainly sounds promising.
