Not sure if its the same accuracy as the KV, but I had really accurate shots with the SU-152's derp. I've hit targets over 600m away (from the hill on campinova down to where the buildings are) consistently since the targeting is so center-heavy. Haven't had a chance to do that on the KV since I usually use the 107.

Advice for the derp? Don't get hit on the side. Ever. If possible, have the thickest part of your armor eat it, it should do 200-300 tops. Kill the KV first if it has a stubby gun, it only takes 2 shots at tier 8 and 9 and they're too dangerous to leave alone.

I penetrated the top commander's hatch of a KV-5 with the derp once. Instant 900 damage. Oh yeah, fun times.

I've grown to like the T28 more with the 85mm. Its armor is underwhelming, but the 85 is OP for its tier. I think the tank is too big to be a scout which makes it an easy target, but it's excellent as a support tank. Just stay behind and let your team spot the enemies, with its speed it can get to spot quickly to snipe. Its damages can turn the tide.

And speaking of accuracy, I am really disappointed in the JagdTiger's gun. It has to be bugged. I've never had so many WTF how did I miss moments than I do with this tank and that gun. (long 128)

It's pretty frustrating when your role is that of a sniper support TD...

He clues you in that he is using the 107... down to HE towards the end.

I watched the replay... he's using the derp. I'd recognize that stubby horror show anywhere, ugh. In his post, he's saying this KV game which pulled nearly 3200xp (holy crap again) beat his previous best game in an E75 (where the using HE to kill patton occured).

:) Glad you warmed up to it! T-28 is easily my favorite tier 4 tank. It's a support tank through and through but it kicks ass in that role. Got my first KV kill in a T-28; just drove circles around that sucker, awesome. I didn't try the 85mm much but maybe I'll go back and give it whirl. But I really enjoy the 57. I used the same gun on the T-34 and it was always hilarious--it had <2sec reload time!

Finally got the 90mm on my Slugger (after selling the POS twice out of frustration with the 76mm). Huge upgrade.
I'll probably unlock the Hellcat when it arrives (I'm assuming it'll also have the 90mm) and sell the M36 Sluggish...and never look back.

BTW...I salute Amercian Tier7+ Heavy drivers. I went through the T1, nothing good about it but I moved on after a while. A couple of games with the M6 and I realized it is more of the same. I'm NOT going to spend my time grinding through 25k xp to get the 90mm then another 35k for the T29.

T34 here, takes 110K to get the gun:)

Tip for accuracy on long-rage shots (hundreds of meters) at stationary targets:

Use auto-aim. It helps zero in the shot better than manually.

I'd had it just miss, just miss manually, then I right click and it moves just a hair and starts hitting.

i totally disagree. auto-aim locks on to the center of the tank which may not even be exposed, and then you're reliant on your gunner's skill. i only use auto-aim, and sparingly at that, when high-speed maneuvering demands my focus and i still want to throw some shells - encirclement or covering a hasty retreat. both are on the move and close range.

I've started using auto-aim when I know my FPS will drop too much for me to actually aim. Otherwise I'm 100% about manual, lol. Sometimes I'll decrease mouse sensitivity (mouse has buttons for that) if I don't zero in just right.

Luckily I already unlocked the 76mm M1A2 from my E8 grind, so I started with that gun and it didn't take me long to get the 90mm. At 21k xp toward T29 right now, the grind really isn't too bad with the 90mm.

You're entitled but I say you're wrong. Obviously, if the venter of the enemy tank is not well exposed, don't use auto aim.

Since that was the only point you raised, and it's not one actually, that leave no point against what I said.

I tend to disagree as well. The reticule is center heavy even at long distances so its better to aim manually, especially at potential weak spots. I've nailed KV-5's r2d2, tiger P's turrets and other variously squishy parts from over 400m away just by aiming. If I had used auto aim those hits would've likely bounced. With lower velocity guns, this is even more important over distance as your shell tends to drop a bit (or a lot). This is very noticeable on lower tier guns and derp guns as well. On the contrary, I only use auto aim when I have machine gun cannons like the 57mm or I'm doing drive bys.

OK, fair enough. It's something I've had help, but your points might work for you.

To get the Hellcat you will need to cross over from the T82 or the M10 Wolverine. So be aware of that. They are going to split the American TD tree in next patch. Some turreted TDs will be in each line. The Hellcat will be in the new line and the Wolverine in the old line. Assuming they don't change things since I last read. I originally had crossed over from the Easy8 so I went back and got the T82 to make sure I had a path to the new TDs.

7.2 confirmed by Overlord NOT to appear in February. March at the earliest.

Auto-aim: I use this so much that I disabled any keybinding for it. Not useful at all imo.

Server-side Crosshair: Using that a lot more nowadays. EU server is having bad micro-stutter issues. Pings and FPS are fine, Ping light turns to red and the game stutters briefly. It's hell in a T34 in a firefight.

Cool news of the day: Earned a Boelter's + Steel Wall in my T34 yesterday as well as killed a 400 HP Bat Chat and 650 HP AMX 50 120 in my IS as last man standing on Sand River.

No worries here...I want to start from the bottom anyway and I have the TD's unlocked so crossing from the T82 when 7.2 comes out :)

Well MM had it out for me yesterday when I was solo queueing. Won 2 out of 20 games. I think my teams were just suiciding to the enemy. 3 minutes in more than half my team was dead in my matches and the other team, maybe lost 1-2 tanks. I'm glad my brother got home and we platooned or else I might have put my fist through a wall in frustration at my idiot team mates. I still ended the night 19W-25L which still sucks, but at least it wasn't 2W-18L.

Elcs, how do you enable this server-side corsshair you speak of? Although I get like 30ms ping and I rarely get this micro stutter ping issue your speaking of. I have seen it, but its usually on my end, with steam or something deciding to start updating a game and hogging all my bandwidth.

Caps Lock + 0 - it'll appear as at blue crosshair which trails your client-side gun aim.

Mods for it: http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/84880-permanent-serverside-crosshairs/

It will take some getting used to. It feels very odd.

I think he is talking about the crisshairs you can bring up using caps lock + 0

Tried the 3001H last night. Not my cup o tea. Used free experience to get a panther. Then grinded out money I wasted on the 3001H on my Type59. Need about 200K more to get the tank. May burn more free experience to get the long 75.
