The is-3 is every way shape and form superior to the IS, plus it has the BL-9 which is awesome. It's a brawler and the armor is ok from a distance but has too many weakspots up close. Obviously it'll get higher tiered matchmaking but I sold my IS when I got my IS-3 and have no regrets.

Back up a bit, aim turret at the slugger. Run forward, ram su-26 to death. The Stuart is trying to get behind me so I hit reverse and just barely hit him: reverse-ram kill! Slugger's back is turned so I fire into it--"penetration!" "he's on fire!" "he's gone!" Got a T1heavy earlier so that gives me top gun to boot. 7 shots, 7 hits, 116 credits worth of damage from ramming kills, 770xp/25k credits (non-prem). YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Last night I mostly played around in the T-43. Rough going with only a 85mm gun in the beginning. I played a couple rounds in the M36 Slugger. Bought a T-50-2 as well but haven't played in it yet. Just wanted to get it and get the equipment before sale ended. Not sure when I'll play today. Need to get out of the house and get some fresh air. See friends and family. That sort of thing.

IS-3 is fun, it goes 38kph so it plays more like a medium than a straight up heavy. The armor isn't the greatest but it's useable. I love the gun and the acceleration. Really fun tank that can deal some great damage.
I still have my IS but won't keep it forever, the IS-3 is just more fun to play for me.

Not nearly as bad as a nice 90degree side hit that penetrates, causes critical damage and then does no HP damage at all. That one is always baffling and frustrating. 😡

Anyone own the premium B2 740? The only tier 4 heavy tank afaik. Any good?
M6 is notorious for eating HE rounds in its track and taking no damage. Many arty players don't even bother shooting M6 because of its bugged track hitbox. It can eat an obj 212 or T-92 shell in the side and walk away with 100% hp at times.

So my guess is this: due to 'bad' luck, you hit in one of the green/white hitboxes (corresponding to track areas that are below the tank hull). So the tracks eat it and die, then the M6's skirt armor absorbed the rest of the splash = no damage. Or maybe a direct HE hit to the skirt armor will mainly splash the tracks & only do minimal damage to the hull? I'm not sure about the 2nd one; possible that guess is only valid under patch 7.0.
The above link is also relevant to this point. The M6 (and several other tanks) has skirt armor--that big metal plate that hides a lot of the suspension area--which can absorb HE shots. This behavior is intentional. Sounds like it's effectively like built-in spall liner.
Though I guess there could be a bug still if the M6's skirt armor is overly effective? Don't know.
Agree 100%! It's annoying to fire on something and see 0 damage pop up while the game happily announces "critical hit!"
And it's almost enraging to hear "penetration!" and do 0 damage. Wtf? I feel like if you penetrate, you should do HP damage. Seriously what inside of a tank is powerful enough to stop a tank shell? The human bodies?? lol
edit: the issue w/both of these is that unless I see the tracks break or something, the tank I "hit" is basically unhit to me. I don't know if his gun is less accurate or his engine is damaged or what.
Worse, doing 0 HP damage = no XP, no credits. That tank won't even show up on your "damaged" list if you don't hit it for HP damage again later. I really wouldn't mind the 0 damage hits if you still got XP+credits for module damage. My shells are still relatively cheap but if I'm paying like 1k credits per shell, a 0 damage hit would REALLY suck.
You really should get something, grr. Like if I see a fast tank (scout, type59/other meds, etc) rolling up and I have the shot, I'll try to track them. Then my teammates/arty can rape it. But I get NOTHING even though I basically trivialized that kill. It's annoying to think that if I were playing like a retard instead and just shot at him for damage, I'd be rewarded.

The M6 is known to have bugged tracks in the current version (6.7). Whether that behavior is fixed in the 7.0 release is unknown tbh. I don't think people are "testing" the M6 very much in general, and the tank is so poorly matched that I think they're willing to forgive the bug.
Also 0 damage crits are terrible when you're using the BL-10, which shoots 3 rounds a minute tops and you're in a very immobile gun platform. The round is 152mm and should freaking tear through anything tier 9 and below, yet sometimes I do 0 damage crits on the side of a tiger. /shrug

I have one shot a T95 and I did 85% or so to an E100. Both were AP rounds. The 95 was at range but from the side. The E100 was in final defense mode... and man did I pay for that shot! Don't even try to use AP at range unless you are hitting low defense targets. On Ensk I only load AP since I know the enemy will be near me in a hurry.

Pershing is squishy compared to a t-59. So no surprise people want to get you killed first compared to the tier 8 t-54.
Just got my tiger II, sporting the long 88 but I used free exp to get rid of the stock turret immediately (lol 100mm frontal armor). I see a lot of debate between the long 88 vs the short 10.5, I like the ROF and accuracy on the 88 but the 10.5 has the much coveted alpha damage. Any opinions on which gun to use?
Also can't seem to get the hang of playing the tiger II. I'm playing it like I do a normal Tiger but not doing too well with the higher matchups. Only have like 3-4 games with it so far though.

The KT is imo the best T8 heavy and absolutely demolishes the IS-3. I can't fathom this boards love affair the the IS-3, it baffles me.
The 10.5 is definitely my WoC when you compare the two. Most players do not understand the visual difference between the medium 10.5 and the long 1.05, and with the same damage output you can scare out a lot of players.
The front armour on the KT is a huge asset to it. Angle that front plate and nothing short of a 220mm+ penetration gun will get through with any regularity. The lower glacis is your front weakspot but it's still reasonably proof against anything 160mm or below. I'm not convinced that with the 90mm M3 I'd be able to penetrate the lower hull with any regularity if it was angled.
The KT accelerates fast, turns fast (and pivots on the spot) and can quickly react to threats. Mobility is a gift that this tank possesses. Use it to make sure that hull is angled and your front giving your enemies hell.
Sides are quite vulnerable. Loader and Driver are the most common knockouts with the gun being the most regularly broken module aside from tracks. Ammo rack is solid.
With the addition of the final 10.5, the KT can penetrate the tier 9's reasonably okay but 225mm penetration still isn't that exciting.
Setting it up like a Lowe: Stabiliser, Rammer, Gun-Laying Drive... the KT can be like a Lowe, just more heavily armoured and much more capable to provide mobile support.
It is the first heavy I have truly enjoyed playing... and I had both the T29 and T32 in closed beta with the +20% armour bugs. If you do not dominate a T8 match in a fully upped KT, you're either doing something very wrong or your team is completely useless.

Wow i just maxed out my E75, this thing is a wrecking machine! Ive got a maxed out IS4 and overall i would say the E75 is superior, the final engine really transforms this tank from a lowe like heavy (fecking slow) to something faster and more maneuverable than the KT.
IS4 has better side armor but tbh if you get flanked in any tank except maus then prepare to take damage, frontal armour is what counts the most and the E75's lower hull is pretty strong compared to the IS4's.
I may go down the porsche line now and try out the VK4502P and maybe get a maus, im not sold on tier 10 tanks at all though, seem like credit sinks and arty magnets.

Pershing - Yes its more squishy in the sense it is an easier target to hit but you cannot play it like a T59. You have to use terrain and cover more to your advantage. Its a good peek-a-boo like tank. When flanking, get to a safer spot and fire away. Destroy the target and then move again.
Tiger II (KT) - I enjoyed the KT. I have kept mine I liked it so much. I prefer the alpha damage of the big 10.5. Performance is pretty decent if your crew is 100%. Get it fully upgraded and 100% crew and it shines. And yes, you are a big target because people know you can be a serious threat.
E-75 - I like the tank. Fully upgraded it is a badass tank to deal with. However if you get into battles that have three or more arty per side, which seems to be common, it is not so fun. Playing 'Hide from arty' just ruins the game fun. I haven't been playing it as much lately simply due to arty fest fights at the higher tier levels. I'd rather play a fast medium where I can at least scoot and dodge arty better. If you are in a Tier 9 or 10 heavy tank you are Arty's fav target simply because you are too slow to move and he knows it. Arty players brag all the time about how easy it is to hit them once spotted. That and you are worth juicy points to them when damaged/killed.

I think the problem is people are just not afraid of the 88 in a brawl. I'm playing it like a sniping tank until I can use the 10.5, so its basically a beefy tiger. The tank is agile and maneuverable and it is fairly intimidating. I have a vstab, rammer and vents on it over a GLD. Need to just get a few more games in to get a better feel of the tank, I'm sure it'll be better as I get used to its armor over a tiger.

What is that free xp that looks gold and how do you use it.
It's a confusing display. Free exp is earned a little each battle and is used for researching tanks and upgrades if you don't have enough exp on the tank.
Most people recommend you use it to get upgrades for new tanks, that are otherwise no fun to play.
For example, I used it to get tracks for a new TD that were needed for the tank to upgrade the engine. It's automatically used if you don't have enough exp.
You can also buy more free exp with gold, by converting unused exp on a tank to 'free exp' that's usable on any tank.
Those are really the only two choices for tanks with nothing left to research: either use the experience for the crew, or save it to covert to 'free exp'.
So, free exp comes from two places; a little automatically every battle, and more if you spend gold to covert normal exp.
The game automatically uses free exp after normal exp so you don't waste any. But be careful because it doesn't warn you it's going to use free exp if you click the button.
