Yeah, the ice cream was back in the corner. I don't think the catering people were supposed to put it out so early because the speaker kept telling everyone they were going to get icecream at the end. However, a lot of it was pilfered by then, even though they moved the icecream out into the hall...
The food was good, the tunes were alright (all 80's music).
The software sucks.
Norton Anti-Virus flags MsiExec.exe while installing or removing Visual Studio due to virus like activity. The install takes nearly 4 hours as it is 4 cd's plus windows component updates. Once it's finally installed, it wants to you activate your software online via Passport. Meanwhile, this MsiExec.exe chews up all your system resources, like half of your cpu time and 32MB of ram. My system is hosed now, I'll have to wipe it I suppose ;-(
The copy of Windows XP Professional they include does not say Academic on it unlike the Visual Studio cd's, though it does say not for resale or oem distribution, so it's basically a NFR copy. Says version 2002 on it, I wonder if there is something new from the initial release.
One guy who was waiting in line got his software and immediately left. People were cheering him on, 'Yeah, don't stick around for the propoganda!'
