Apple blows. Microsoft blows.

Does that make everyone happy?

Don't forget linux blows.

Linux doesn't blow. Linux sits in the corner alone, sobbing uncontrollably because it can't get laid.

Microsoft's ads are downright retarded. I think they are worse than the snarky "I'm a Mac" ads Apple has put out.

Are you kidding, those MAC commercials were horrible..at least these are poking fun and MS is in the fight instead of letting it happen!

the WINDOWS commercials are also horrible.

the only commercials recently that i've liked seeing is the vitamin water one with the wolf eating the groundhogs

I love my MacBook
I also love my desktop PC + Windows XP

They both have things that they are fucking great at and things that they suck ass at.

This is true. However, Windows 7 is quite an improvement over Vista. Once 7 comes out I think it'll be huge. Should really hurt Mac sales.

I run the Win 7 beta, while I like it. I don't think most people will care. Outside of new PC's coming bundled with it, I don't see many people at all running out to actually buy the OS. And with the economy in the shitter. I don't see many people buying new PC's. Windows 7 will only fare slightly better than Vista has.

There are valid reasons for a Mac, I was at a producers house a few weeks ago and the software + plugin he uses are for Mac only. while technically he could build a PC that would install OSX for much less. But he likes support and such, so a PC isn't a viable option to him.

If I was a programmer...I may agree with you...I'd much rather program for Vista...but as a user...I couldn't disagree with you more. The user experience is definitely better for your average user in OSX.

Now you're power user will likely like Vista better...but OSX definitely has it beat on accessibility (other than price) to your average person.

Not surprising that Apple's computer sales would be dipping when the economy is in the crapper. February is also right before Apple updated their desktop computers.

only time I'd buy a mac is if I lived in California looking over my cliff in my backyard.

I'd be wearing twill beach khakis and my dress shirt would be unbuttoned. I look behind me to see that the wife is reading a book in the warm glow of our humble home. I look forward to see the ocean sipping my wine. When I'm done I get back on my Mac and click once or twice then close the thing because I have no computer intellect.

Rinse, wash, repeat.

uhhh if i had that view i'd gladly own a mac.

I've never seen a commercial for MAC.

WHO would sponsor a commercial for MAC?

As a programer, I can't agree. I find writing applications for OSX to be easier then windows (because I know objective C and apple has great easy to follow documentation, and their entire development platform is free) Plus apple provides api's for ruby and python.

Personally, I prefer development for linux using gtk. I find that the easiest.

But for application development ruby + cocoa has to be the easiest thing I've ever used.

The great thing about OS X for power users is it's command-line interface. OS X is based on BSD, so it's funny that on a forum with so many Linux nerds, OS X gets so much hate. I would love it if Windows had a better command line interface, because I love writing scripts to do things.

Whats with all the mac hate? I use my custom built PC for gaming and photo editing. I use my Mac Powerbook as a portal recording studio (garageband rocks) and school work. I have been using this Powerbook for almost 4 years now and despite being dropped on concrete (suffered a pretty nice dent in one corner) it still runs great.

I don't really like Apple hardware, but I found it neat I sold a year old Macbook for only 15% depreciated value from what I paid. I was totally expecting lowball offers but someone paid me without any second thoughts.

For a supposedly enlightened group of nerds that always do their research and never follow trends, there are quite a few connoisseurs of advertisements...
