Infantry combat in BF3 is the best out of the entire BF series. The battlelog was actually really good, pretty much making a battlefield facebook with stats and everything (something that MW3 charges for).

Respectfully, just because infantry combat in BF3 is better than in any BF before it doesn't really say much; it is still clunkier and more awkward than its peers and competitors.

And I don't mind the Battlelog system. And I agree it should be free (and it is with MW3; the Elite premium gets you other stuff beyond stat tracking). But it's hardly revolutionary, as Bungie.net has had stat tracking and the whole shebang as far back as Halo 3 (so, 2007).

And frankly, all of the stat tracking and such could have easily been integrated into the in-game UI and would have made it polished and cohesive. Instead it just feels like a last-minute add on that was thrown in to compete with COD Elite.

I guess I want Battlefield to stop trying to out-COD MW, and instead just focus on being the most awesome BF experience ever. I don't feel like BF3 does this. Flashy graphics and jet planes aside, it feels like a step back in almost every way to BC2 to me, and that's sad.

EDIT: To return to topic, I'm not going to write Warfighter off. MOH2010 did a lot of things right in terms of mood and style (I remember the part where you kick away the booby-trapped body before it blows just made my jaw drop), and I think with some fresh focus Warfighter could be badass. But it will have to be very special to warrant $60, especially in an age that doesn't seem to believe in demos.

A lot of people preordered MoH2010 for $25. Hopefully a $40 or less deal will come around, which will take the sting out of any imperfections the game might have. Although if it was released now, I'd put down $60 just to have something new to play. I dont know why EA insists on releasing against COD.

After reading this thread I got MOH:2010 and played the single-play campaign and can agree with some that its the better of the campaigns IMHO compared to MW3 and BF3. That part where all seems lost for Neptune, wow. This campaign definitely evoked more emotion from me than the others. Will definitely get Warfighter if not just for the campaign.

Reinstalled MOH'10 last night. Going to give the campaign another whirl this weekend (never finished it the first time).

Its $9.99 on Origin, maybe I should get it for the campaign.

How long is the campaign?

Anyone still play the multi player or are the servers empty?

At $10, I'd say it's not a bad choice. The graphics are still decent, and the campaign, if short, is worth a quick blow through.

I got on the MP last night. According to the little menu there were approx 690 players on last night, but I don't know if that's just in Europe or worldwide. Either way I didn't have a problem getting into a game at about 3pm EST/ 8pm local, and most of the games I played were close to full or had enough to make it worthwhile.

690 is much more than the last time I checked...maybe I'll start playing again!

I picked it up on Origin last night.

The SP campaign, so far, is typical of the genre. DICE really doesn't know much about AI, but I didn't expect much anyway. I don't think I'm going to finish the campaign.

The MP, on the other hand, is pretty fun. It's definitely COD-style gameplay, only without having to play COD. ;) The movement mechanics and gun handling feel better to me than COD, and are actually quite nice. There is very little recoil, however...so don't expect anything that realistic from it.

In all, I had enough fun with the MP that I'm going to keep it in the rotation for when I want a fix of run-n-gun FPS. I never had any problem finding a busy server....but you can tell it isn't hot right now. Honestly, that's fine with me - - just means it's going to get less attention from hackers.

I played last night/this morning and there are quite a few players still playing. First page in the server browser was all full to almost full games. I am starting to remember some of the issues with MP, but its still fun.

It's just BC2 with no recoil. Not bad, not good.

Its much faster than BC2. As I was playing I started to remember why I stopped playing it. Like the hit detection that would cause simultaneous deaths, when you clearly should have gotten the kill. Shotgun blasts to the head point blank that do nothing. Or how a guy can use a noob tube or rpg like a panic knife and not sustain any damage to themselves. Head glitching with no kill cam is a frustrating experience. But its still fun, and I'm glad people started playing again. I'm on my 3rd account and the starting guns are just as effective as the veteran guns with all the attachments.

That is one hot ass pilot!

I'd love to battlebus with you sometime.

Indeed! I haven't had a literal holy shit moment like that since the original modern warfare so that's saying a lot.

I really enjoyed the MP in the Tier 1 MoH, so this is definitely on my radar.

Sorry if this is hijack, but I am just getting sick of all of the modern FPS trends.
..... You will have little icons telling you exactly where to go, exactly what to press, and no talent or thought will be required on your part. ....

Playing Half-Life 2, or even the Halo: CE Anniversary, today is such an odd, refreshing experience because, hey, there's no massive icon telling you to turn on the light bridge to cross, or icon telling you to follow your AI partner. You have to explore the environment, poke around a corner or two, and maybe use your brain just wee bit. The difference is startling, and Halo was never known for being particularly good or challenging in this regard.

I think this is some new generational thing. Damn kids these days have got it handed to them easy. Got hurt? stand around and do nothing and you are now a winner.

Back in the old days, you had to do it right to succeed. If you got shot, blown up, etc, you got to start over until you mastered it. I'd like to see those mic-swear-spammin 8 year olds stand around waiting for health refill in Q1 Nightmare

Damn hipsters.

Thanks, my friend. $12 off is better than nothing.
We have until the 25th to find a better deal before this one expires.
