This is why 20 year olds are not asked to run campaigns (and yes, I know she wasn't a campaign manager in any form, just a lowly volunteer). When the best strategy you can come up with is a fake mugging... well, that's pretty desperate, isn't it?

At least she'll have a story to tell her kids!

Police: Campaign Worker Admits Making Up Story

A Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Ashley Todd confessed to making up the story & is facing charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ? Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

According to police, investigators working on the interview process detected several inconsistencies in Todd's story that differed from statements made in the original police report.

Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard released a statement earlier today, saying: "Because of the inconsistencies in her statements, Ms. Todd was asked to submit to a polygraph examination which she agreed to do."

No photos of Todd are being released by Pittsburgh Police at this time.

The investigation is continuing as officials determine what charges will be filed.

I have to admit, I'm really enjoying this story. Perfect combination of attention whoring, race baiting, stupidity, and justice.

I love this. You know Fox News and the GOP were ready to run this story into the ground knowing it would give white people on the fence about Obama another reason(Fox News logic not mine) not to vote for him. They wouldn't have to specifically mention race because it would already be in the story, and they knew that.

To quote Nelson form the Simpsons...HA - HA!!

well, it was hard to find an invisible, dyslexic, 200 pound 6'4" left handed black robber with a penchant for politics (so strong that he would risk getting caught mutilating his "victim" rather than robbing and running); carrying a dull knife along with a veritable surgeon's skill, capable of not actually cutting more than the surface level of skin on a writhing victim.

Difference is Fox News waits to verify the accuracy of the story before running it to the ground, whereas MSM *cough rathergate* would run a story whether it's true or not and drag themselves down with it.

She's young.. All you need to do is deny it and they'll stop bothering you. That tactic got Republicans through 8 years of 'make shit up to fit your agenda' government. Which is pretty much this story, except on the national level.

Fox News was already covering this story more then the MSM. BTW - Since Fox says they have the highest ratings on cable for news how are they not part of the MSM?

Second why did those boneheads McCain and Palin get personally involved? Answer, they were getting prepared for the race baiting.

I'm glad the truth was brought to light. I expect similar stunts in the final days of the election... can't wait for it to be over.

Seriously, it can't be worse than this. I hope not. WTF can't people play fair?

Obviously the Obama campaign sub-contracted Rove to create a hoax that will be exposed. She's an Obama operative posing as a McCain operative making this up 😉
I knew it! I predicted it! Me me! I predicted it!

edit: OK my Dave/Techs imitation is leaving me feeling dirty. Enough of that.

This.

And first off I will commend the OP for the graciousness shown in backing away from this foolishness.

What's even more fun is the promotion of Faux News as (in deep announcer-like voice) " ... setting the unqualified standard of media professionalism ... " LOL

Get a clue, dood

30 years of Lee Attwater hate-based politics is imploding around your Red ears.

That's not an official news story, it's morning show gossip. Hardly the equivalent of a Dan Rather CBS news report.

HaHa... the troll comes back everyone to defend his Faux. Oh and Fox News host John Gibson again discussed the Insight Magazine story without any attempt to independently confirm the charges later in the day on Faux. So it was not some small talking peice on the morning show. It was shown/talked about more then once on faux without even trying to see if it was true or not.

OK then what about this story? It was the Main/TOP story on faux website yet when they story started to crack they moved it down to a much smaller area?

Faux was just happy to have someone say "the big black man did this..." and was able to run with it. Now they look like the idiots they are.

Police are having a conference live on CNN now announcing she staged the hoax.

Is this the best the Republicans can put forward as shills this year?
