I don't get it, no one forces anyone to click on a thread. Always a little snitch lurking in the forums being the tattle tale.

This is true but it got to the point where he was making multiple threads per day all about his personal life and IMO he was already drawing moderator attention anyway.

Bob Weir: the only lead he ever played was on China Cat Sunflower. true story.

what's up. werepossum? I was in Cahttanooga for about 2 hours last week, just trying to get from Alabama/Georgia and back into NC.

traffic there...wtf man? there was this one methhead that tried to kill everyone driving on 75--bobbing and weaving, cutting off, pushing forward, etc. Thought I would have to jettison Pops and go guns blazing into the next state.

true story
Shit, Zin, should have let me know, I'd have bought you lunch.

You think traffic's bad in four wheels, try it on two. Half the drivers are on meth or crack and the other half are texting or watching television/surfing the web. Lane markers are no more than suggestions and stopping involves making sure the idiot behind you notices the two dozen cars ahead and is braking.

EDIT: Forgot to add: I think Bob Weir in his way did as much to revitalize rhythm guitar from an interchangeable supporting member to a full partner as did Keith Richards or Lindsey Buckingham or James Hetfield. He's still a pretty mean guitar player - no Buddy Guy (who is?) but damned good.

He's also my favorite vocalist among the Dead.

Does this mean Mayne is now free to post in this thread as many times as he wishes? 😉

yeah, I love Weir. One of those under-appreciated dudes, but he isn't the greatest, obviously. Probably the best vocalist throughout the Dead's history, sure...but damn that's a low bar. 😀

I just prefer the Barlow/Weir tunes to the Hunter/Garcia tunes overall.

Weir cheezed up everything he sang. He was the Vegas singer you found at one of the bars outside of town; by the dumpsters... :^D

Isn't that true of most rock bands though? Can anyone truly say that Mick Jagger or John Lennon are great singers? Or, you know, good singers? And John Lennon and Keith Richards made fortunes playing rhythm guitar in open tunings, but both are really little more than pale imitations (pun intended) of Bo Diddly. I think rock music is more about how it speaks to you than about absolute mastery, else Yngwie Malmsteen would be a superstar.

I love those tunes as well, I just prefer the cowboy/rough and tumble drifter aesthetic you got with Barlow's stuff.

Oh indeed. What a damn cheeseball most of the time. Those shorts! D:
I don't like to venture too often into the Dead stuff after ~82 or whatever, so I avoid most of the cheesiest moments. I feel that ~67-79 is the sweet spot. Even the disco stuff can be good, but really the early 70s is the best.

Same here. I have most of what they did, but 68 to maybe 72 is my sweet spot, after the worst of the psychedelic but before the Godchaux disco phase. As far as low bars, Dead vocalists is more of a stripe thing - they never really had a good singer after Pigpen.

and we all know what happens when mayne gets drunk...... 😱

drunk..but i'm not drunk and slightly sober and kinda pissed off and only have a little bit of weed in front of me. I have to piss in my pee jug now because my sister is in the can for last 1 hour now...this is my last post unless i want to get on a vacation.
