yeah, this Halloween event has been very nice, and especially on top of the start of Omega week, which I think is the best of their new rotating events.

I missed a lot of the Halloween and earlier stuff because I was away from the game, playing Borderlands. Some of those terminal bosses are so hilariously broken--Cosmic Doom was doling out an invisible floor of death on this one run. Step on floor: die. step on floor: die. Even after you eventually kill him, and nothing is left to attack you (cosmic power circles), that floor would still kill you.

Do any of you guys have a link to a good Storm build or just a general link to character builds? I have a level 17 Storm but I haven't sunk any stat points because I'm not sure were to put them.
Also do the pumpkins and candy do anything special or should I just toss them?

they are meant for your vendors, as the description says. If you haven't leveled your vendors, it's a huge, huge free buff to get that done quickly. After that--same thing. But just trade for cash.

The candy and pumpkins are just made to sell for ingame credits.

They can provide a pretty decent amount of it.

And I didn't read Z's response before opening my mouth.

One of the new things they did was introduce buffs from the visual pets in game. I've been using the Halloween buff drops, and MM Monday chests to level a couple of those up. Best one so far rolled +3 strength on the unique level of it.

I'm a little sad that back in the day I had donated a ton of those to free up inventory space.

well, diablo-like in terms of being an AARPG or whatever that's called, and loot-and-build heavy.

it's a key-based skill system, so none of the clicking :D

--though, movement is click-based, which I find annoying.

I ran into this game last night while on hold with EA trying to fix a account issue. This is actually pretty fun. I'm playing as the punisher.

I prefer it to the DC version, that one tried a pseudo mmo with a weird backstory so you're not actual heroes but build you owns. I'd call marvel being like diablo 2.8. Not quite as advanced as 3, but a good easy play. With them now constantly rotating events even though a large part of the game is farming kills and such, it's not left the arena of being fun still.

Got cyclops up to 60 and starting thinking who to play next. Since I had torch at 40 already, started on him. Boy does he suck now compared to cyclops. A couple seconds of fighting then waiting for spirit regen, ugh this guy needs to be fixed.

At least with retcon devices being deleted it's easy not to just play with the power and omega trees and not worry about it.

Found a way to clear a lot of my general cache out in hero stash. All of those uru items can actual go into any hero even if they haven't been bound yet, and uniques that say any hero or a group of heroes can also be stored unbound into any hero (or of that group).

Ended up cleaning out most of my char stash and about a full page of general.

Yeah, used that same strategy to clean out a few tabs of general storage.

I wish they would add more crafting only inventory space. I've been spending a lot of time sorting through the 5 tabs of costume cores, trying to decide which ones are good, and which ones to sell.

Yeah, I've had a few hero stashes reserved for the any-hero uniques for some time now.

Though, with the serious stat-creep and massive unique overhaul over the last couple of months, the majority of any-heroes are mostly irrelevant now compared to the hero-specific uniques. Of course, nearly every build/stat focus is now becoming the same. That being said, the exchange recipes are damn nice, so 4x for relics and re-rolling pets sure helps out the stash space.

Also, stash was overhauled a few weeks ago--weird that the icons are still around, but crafting-only slots were supposed to be removed; I guess that hasn't happened yet? If you still have some craft slots to purchase with G's, go ahead and do so if they are still at 350G each. All of them will be converted to general stash slots, so it's an effective savings of 150G for each one.

Marvel 3rd anniversary event has started.

For the next 2.5 weeks. This doesn't give out big login gifts so much as a bunch of useful benefits. It's probably the best time during the year to try the game.

- XP boost for faster leveling
- "loot explosions" give some of the best gear as well as currencies for endgame
- collect "cake slices" to get things like an extra shared bank and a choose (almost) any hero unlock token.

For new players I'd suggest picking Captain America or Scarlet Witch as your one free unlock since they are both considered strong at endgame. As you play and through events you'll have the chance to unlock other random heroes without paying cash.

Also, donate junk to the Crafter and Enchanter at Avengers Tower instead of selling it. You want to level them up to 10 each, then 20 for the crafter. But you can skip crafting and enchanting until you reach 60, save the mats.

If you have space, it's worth saving "unique" items even after you stop using them. At crafter level 15 he learns a recipe to convert uniques to a lot of credits. If you get a Pet it's also worth feeding them to it instead of donating.

I've had that game for a long time on Steam, it's terrible and has a bit of a paywall. Champions Online is a beter game.

yeah, Jean Grey, too. easy mode.

lol. there is no paywall. everything in this comment is not true. Scarlet Witch is a free starter toon. no reason to pay. loot is super easy and plentiful now.

IF you haven't played since the first 6 months of release, then you have no idea what this game is now.

...there are plenty of issues to complain about: persistent simple bugs, samey events and game types, typical arpg/mo mechanic balance nerfing from time to time, but paywall has never been an entity in this game.

In fact, marvel heroes has the best free/monetary model I have ever seen in a game.

Nope, 100% wrong.

You get one hero unlock free (your choice from a small list). That hero can be played through all content including endgame without spending a penny, ever.

You can play the other 50-odd heroes up to level 10 free, to try before you buy.

You earn random hero unlocks now and then as event rewards or loot drops. Right now during the Third Anniversary you can get a token to choose any second hero you want with about 1 weekend's worth of playing the game. Not grinding, just from loot you'll get playing through the story.

The pay aspect comes in if you want to get specific alternate costume unlocks, like Captain America's movie outfits instead of the classic 70s costume he comes with "for free."

That, and bank space. You can earn one free shared bank during this event, you can earn more during other events, but if you hoard unused gear for heroes you might play later then you might give in and spend $5-10 on extra bank storage.

MH is up there with STO for "it really is free to play all the content," even more so in that STO only gives out a free endgame starship 3 times a year while MH lets any hero you unlock do full endgame without missing any power. T6 heroes instead of the T5 ship STO gives you.

dude is, I think, a shill for a game that no one has played in 3 years.

MH, love or hate ARPG online games--it is 100% free and accessible to anyone that wants to get to endgame post-haste. And more.

the primary goal for real world money would be stash slots, but that's it, really, and you can still get some of those for free.

This game is actually quite good. If it weren't for Path of Exile I would be playing Marvel Heroes almost exclusively.

They also gave a free cake on the fourth but didn't realize in time to post, and have been getting 50 slices a couple times during the daily gift.

Not to mention *tons* of gear drops while playing, to drive us towards buying more item storage :)

I've already gotten one free item bank tab from cake slices, and by tomorrow should have enough slices for my choice of a hero unlock or a team-up hero.

Do you know whether the Captain America and Iron Man team-ups use the same idle banter as the main heroes, or if they have unique lines instead?
