Mandrake 9.0 is out...hurray!

I don't know why I'm telling you this, since the site is down (slahdotted) and you can't even get to the page listing the mirrors....which I imagine were full seconds after the announcement...

it's supposedly, by far, the best release to date. I have the beta on my HD, but installed 8.2 instead.

I couldn't get 8.2, 9.0 RC2, or 9.0 RC3 to install properly for me, they'd freeze during various parts of the install, the moust would stop responding, etc, made me mad. Then I tried Slackware but that was too hard, so now I'm back at Red Hat 7.3 again.

Check this out, if you can. /. people indicate that there is some major stuff they did to it, apart from updating all the software (latest kernel, KDE3, Gnome2, gcc 3.2, etc..)

Its the first officialy released Linux distro using GCC 3.2.

you may only need the first two (Depending on what you install. When i installed 8.2, cd #3 was only used for 1% of the installation.

AFAIK, RC3 is the final. They just renamed it.

Really? I know they said it was going to be VERY close to final. I think I remember the install screen looking slightly different from their screenshots, but that could just be the crack talking...

They did release final only 6 days after rc3, so they couldn't have changed much.
