Heh... I don't know if this is the right place for this or not, but I have been trying for days to get Mandrake 9 and if I can find a mirror I can actually get through to, I end up getting cut off in the middle of the transfer! Even at best I am hitting 75kb/sec coming off fome of these mirrors and some are even slower than that!

So, what I wanted to ask is if someone out there has successfully gotten the CD and would like to share... I guess that's an okay thing to ask, since the download is free.... But if not, please pretend like I never asked... At this point, I would take anything... Transfering it to me via ICQ or AIM would be great, but heck, I would be willing to pay someone to send me a copy in the mail!

Also, I would love to hear any reviews from people that have actually been able to get through and get the ISOs and install them... I'm interested to see how it is!

Thanks,
Jeff

Got it up and running on both my primary machine @ work and @ home. Nice job Mandrake and the open source community!

if your connection keeps dropping then you should use a different program to download. Internet Explorer is fine for small files or really good connections, but it does not feature resumable downloads. Find an FTP program with resumable downloads (I like SecureFX -- it has a 30-day evaluation period), or get a download manager like Download Accelerator Plusto integrate into your browser. If the connection is dropped, these programs will let you resume where you left off. DAP will even download from multiple mirrors at the same time, to maximize throughput.

Hey Bizmark... thanks for the tip. I already tried using CuteFTP and still got killed quite a bit! I waited until about 2am and got what I needed. I got the first 2 discs done and the 3rd is working as we speak.. Too bad Red Hat 8 is like 6 freaking discs! That one is going to take a while! Either way, I hope everyone out there is enjoying Mandrake, I heard a lot of good things about it so far :)

The 3rd disc is called the "International" disc and I've done 2 installs and it hasnt asked for those. I'm assuming that you wouldnt need the 3rd disc unless you wanted your install to be something other than english.

PTCVette, you only need the first three to install Red Hat. I have no clue what's on the other three images.

Yeah, downloaded the first ISO. Need the other two.

Sounds like mdk 9.0 has some nice improvements. Will get it spun up on a box here in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the tip... I finally got a disc #2 that freaking worked! Just got Mandrake up and running on my laptop about 5 minutes ago. Next will be the desktop sometime this weekend. Looks very sweet! I'll have to play around with the thing and see how it goes! I'll have to see if I can actually get Red Hat 8 and play with that one as well. Anyone around here actually tried them both yet?
