That Military contract = money to Trump, plus Trump industries business in Saudi Arabia post Presidency is well worth a murder or two because it’s money and that’s all that matters

After my heavily negotiated trip to Saudi Arabia last year, the Kingdom agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States. This is a record amount of money. It will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States. Of the $450 billion, $110 billion will be spent on the purchase of military equipment from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and many other great U.S. defense contractors. If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries - and very happy to acquire all of this newfound business. It would be a wonderful gift to them directly from the United States!

I'm not sure how involved we should be in this. This is really a problem between two countries, neither of which are America. We should be hands off here.

His statements aren't true of course. SA it's locked in our military ecosystem and can't change w/o massive expense and training.

The massive spending he's looking to protect is in Trump Org properties.

Let's also remember where all the 9/11 highjackers were from.

The man lived in Virginia. Three of his children are U.S. Citizens. He worked for what is arguably the preeminent U.S. news publication. All of his children are now banned from leaving Saudi Arabia.

But yeah, nothing to do with the U.S. at all.

I don't like this any more than any one else, but I really don't understand what the anti-Trump'ers think we should do here. While I'm not fan of Saudi Arabia I don't think making enemies of the home of wasabi islam is a great idea either.
 
This should be at the top of the list of cowardice that Turmp has shown as President, just above the immigration fiascoes (separating children from parents and putting them in cages, and then the "border guard" with the Charlottesville situation sandwiched between those two). Sadly, I have a bad feeling we're going to see him "Turmp" all of these with at least one (won't be surprised if its several) act of cowardice that will make even his own family cringe, let alone the rest of America.

The rush to suck off a bunch of KSA despots that makes Iran look like a bastion of freedom is kind of curious given that they are wholly dependent on us in the first place. Tell them to pull back in Yemen and get rid of MBS if they want to continue doing business. If they want to play hardball cut off their military parts flow and their expensive shit will turn decorative quickly. Untangling from decades of US systems purchases isn't as simple as calling Putin to place an order like you're switching pizzerias.

They weren't put in cages, that is an absolute leftist lie. Do you realize how many of those kids are sent here illegally separate from their parents anyway? Do you want human trafficking? Under Trump the kids were processed and sent to holding facilities that were more like a summer camp, they were not cages. You are misinformed at best, a liar more likely.

Wasn't he a US resident? And also worked at WaPo (admittedly not Trump's favourite).
It absolutely does involve the US as they are enabling this type of behaviour with no consequences.

Look at what happened to Otto Warmbier. And we have almost no relationship with NK. I'm not for this, I don't like it, and I feel we should be stepping away from Saudi Arabia as much as we can. But I don't know what anyone expects us to do about this as a country.

Seriously though, yea, I get it. I'm not trying to say there is no guilt here, that the Saudi's aren't plainly in the wrong and did something I think we can all agree is evil. I'd like us to step away from Saudi Arabia altogether for other reasons. This is just one more. But in the mean time we're taking their money. Wouldn't be great if we were completely independent from OPEC?

We could be with the fracking that is happening and require oil pumped in the US is used in the US like we used to.
I’ll admit my initial reaction to the news of this guy being killed was similar to yours. Then I learned he’s been here a while, works for a real US company and has family that are US citizens. That changes the perspective.

What would be your reaction if it were up to you? Nothing? Sanctions? War? This shows the Saudis' true colors. I think we just need to step away from them and become less depending on OPEC. Leave that area of the world alone and let it sort itself out. The only real allies we have there are ones we pay for in one way or another. But like it or not, I get why Trump isn't making major changes (at least publicly) because they murdered this guy.

Sanction the shit out of them until another member of the royal family takes over
Demand restitution for his surviving family
Stop arms sales, they can have a great time with Puti or China if they so desire. I have a feeling that relationship won’t be so benefitial as ours.
Have a consistent message from Government this will not be tolerated and Suadia Arabia did it. Not the current some Congress Critters say they did it others keep quiet and the President saying “Who knows what really happened”
